I installed bionicpup 32-8.0-uefi on a 2 GB RAM, 2 GB HD Thin Client PC with a wiped HD. I un-necessarily installed the Grub Boot Manager with Puppy as the only O/S on the HD. How do I disable or remove the Grub Boot Manager so I boot only the Puppy O/S?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Boot Menu Not Needed
The boot manager is needed to actually boot Bionicpup32.
So Grub2 boot manager is needed.
What do you see when the boot menu pops up?
What options are listed?
How exactly did you do the install of Grub2?
How exactly did you do the install of Bionicpup32?
Are you wanting Bionicpup32 to just boot, without having to select it from the boot loader menu?
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected
Re: Boot Menu Not Needed
Yes, I want bionic pup to just boot without seeing a menu.
The menu I see is:
Puppy upupbb
Bionicpup32
Bionnicpup32
Find Grub2
Windows
Advanced menu
Thanks

Re: Boot Menu Not Needed
There will be a time, when you may need to be able to use that boot menu, to provide a way to fix something.
It is there to provide optional ways to boot.
If you do nothing when you see the boot menu.
After a short time of around 5 to 10 seconds.
Does it automatically boot into Bionicpup32?
If yes.
The auto boot selection setting is OK.
Note:
There is a way to adjust the time delay, to auto boot, the default boot menu entry.
If seeing the boot menu bothers you that much.
Do not look at the computer screen while it is booting.
I am wondering why the menu has 3 entries to what seems to be selecting to boot Bionicpup32.
You got more than one install of Bionicpup32?
You did not answer my other questions which I asked you!!
I gues you figured I asked them, for no reason, so they should not be answered.

Re: Boot Menu Not Needed
I installed bionicpup using the downloaded ISO put on a bootable flash drive using Rufus. During the install cycle, near the end, a window gave the option to install a menu option for a dual boot and as I mentioned in my first post, I mistakenly installed the menu option even though I only had bionicpup on the computer. The popup window gave a script to use to reverse the install for the menu later on If I didn't want it but I failed to write it down. I guess this was Grub2 and that is how it was installed.
When bionicpup boots it stops at Puppy upupbb and in about 10 seconds, it shows a message: Error 15: File not found and Press any key to continue. After pressing a key, it returns to the main menu at Puppy upupbb and will hang until Bionicpup32 is selected and the enter key pressed for it to boot.
One solution for a smooth boot may be to change the menu order so that Bionicpu32 is first. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks,

Re: Boot Menu Not Needed
Another topic about Rufus issues
Rufus is a generic installer that tries to work for any operating system install to USB.
The thing is it does not know about how Puppy Linux works.
Tweaking it's boot loader is always needed.

Sure, we just have to figure out which boot loader config file to edit.
Boot Bionicpup32 to a working desktop.
Lower left should be drive icons for all the drives on the computer.
One should be for the USB drive.
I will guess it is sdb1 and maybe sdb2 if it has more than one partition.
The boot loader stuff should be on sdb1.
Left click on sdb1
This will open Rox file manager showing the contents.
We are looking for a file named grub.cfg
There may be more than one.
Bionicpup32 has one for it to use when installed as a live install.
I think the one we need is going to be in a boot directory(folder)
If you see a boot directory.
Click on it to see contents.
There may be other directories in it.
Click to open them until you find grub.cfg file.
Click on it to open in a text editor.
If the entries in it look like what you see when the boot menu pops up.
The first line of an entry is what shows in the boot menu.
You can use the text editor to move them, delete them, edit them etc.....
Just make sure to save before closing the text editor.
Note:
One thing in these entries that will help with USB installs.
Anyplace it has pmedia=cd
Change this to pmedia=usbflash
Any other times you want to install a Puppy version to a USB.
Try to use the installer programs that come in most Puppy versions.

Re: Boot Menu Not Needed
No. You did not install bionicpup to a Thin Client with a wiped HD PC using rufus. Rufus is a program which runs under Windows and writes a boot-loader and an operating system to a USB-Stick. Please provide the details of how you convinced Rufus that your Thin Client was a USB-Stick. Others might like to know. Did you just connect it to your Windows computer with a USB-Cable?
Or did you first install bionicpup to a USB-Stick, plug that USB-Stick into a port on the Thin Client, boot bionicpup from that USB-Stick and use it to install another instance to the Thin Client's hard-drive. If so, what application did you run from the bionicpup-on-the-USB-stick to install it to the hard-drive?
About using rufus, see my post here, viewtopic.php?p=62887#p62887 concerning important instructions, then follow its link for a detailed recipe.
