See if this will work.
Go to this web site:
https://www.freeprinterdriverdownload.o ... x-and-mac/
Download the Linux driver to a location you can find it.
It will be this file:
cnijfilter2-5.40-1-deb.tar.gz
In Rox file Manager, navigate to location you put it.
Right click on the file and select Uextract.
When Uextract widow opens select OK.
This will un-compress the package into a directory(folder) named cnijfilter2-5.40-1-deb.tar.gz.extracted, in the same location.
Left Click on this directory to show contents.
Inside will be a directory named: cnijfilter2-5.40-1-deb.
click on it and inside it will be a directory: packages.
click on it to show it's contents.
There will be two .deb packages.
Left click on the one with amd64 in the name.
It will proceed to do the install.
This will install the driver and related files.
Note:
Do not try to run that install script. It will not work in Fossapup64.
The .deb package install method will work.
Do a reboot of Fossapup64 making sure the Fossapup save is updated.
Now try to use cups to setup the printer.
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected
I installed the package successfully but when i opened the CUPS printer wizard and clicked on adding printer and classes it shows me this (see the attachment)
Try using this how to procedure.

Thanks i fixed it
Things I did :
1) Installed the .deb file (amd64 one) as it's a 64 bit OS.
2) Connected my printer to the wifi (as it's a wireless printer).
3) Opened CUPS and under Administration/Add printer section could find my printer under discovered network printers (directly clicking on add printer from the home page gives me that error)
4) Proceeded the setup and finally the printer is added.
5) Removed the .deb file with ppm as i figured out it's of no use i could manually select my printer from a list of canon printers.
This section explains the procedure for installing the downloaded printer driver.
Mount disk. Double-click the disk image file that you downloaded.
Start Installer. In the unzipped disk, double-click "PrinterDriver_XXX_YYY.
Open Installer.
Select installation destination.
Continue installation.
Finish installation.
