Since my 30v was suppose to update ― I get a "patch apply failed" message. I read in a post here ― that it's not supposed to update, and I'm supposed to install the new version.
I don't remember how I got PM; did it come with the FossaPup installation, or did I install it? The Profile is here: /root/.moonchild productions/pale moon/tm2fmmx1.default; I don't know where PM itself is.
To use GTK3 version? And where do I untar it, keeping my Profile?

I have had no issues, letting the internal update do updates, in Pale Moon. (version 28.0.0 thru version 31.1.0)

Do you have Pale Moon installed or are you using some kind of portable version?

What version is shown when you do Help -> About Pale Moon?

Try this:

First make a backup copy of the profile.

Do this again:

Run the help -> check for updates

Make sure you have only started Pale Moon and it is not opened to a bunch of tabs.
Only one tab. Whatever is your home page.

Because of issues with v30 the update was withdrawn and an update from v29 to v31 may cause further issues.
It would be prudent to perform a clean install of version 31 and copy over just your user.js file from your saved profile.

palemoon can be obtained from their website.
https://www.palemoon.org/

Palemoon comes preinstalled in fossapup.You could use the pfind function to find all related files or you use the remove built in packages which can remove the preinstalled version.
Browsers are best in portable format in puppy and mike walsh has a portable palemoon if needed.

FossaPup, as I said.

I have had no issues...

It was always set to Automatic Update, and I never had issues.

I did this: the window for 31v download opened; after clicking “Get the New Version” ― it downloaded it, but the “Applying update...” - just continues forever. Also - then in Help ― there's the option “Apply Downloaded Update Now” > which then says “Restart Pale Moon”. After restart ― it's “The Update could not be installed (patch apply failed)” again.
I also restarted in Safe Mode ― and I get the same message.

The above may work OK.

But this info will decide that.

I hate to be picky, but there are a few different OS's on the forum with Fossa in the name.

So are you saying Fossapup64 9.5?

If Pale Moon was originally in the Puppy version.
Using a pet package of Pale Moon, made for that Puppy version, and doing an install, is going to be less likely to have issues.

I beg your pardon,i should of been more specific.
Click...menu---setup and choose "remove built in packages" from the list you should be able to remove the built in palemoon from there.

I would make a copy of your user.js in your existing profile and then completely remove palemoon from your system and do a clean fresh reinstall,

I would copy the complete /root/.moonchildproductions directory and all that is in it, to a location that is outside of the Fossapup64 9.5 install and save.
A different drive or partition.

Keep the original where it is.

Before trying to delete Pale Moon by using remove built in packages.

After you made the copy of /root/.moonchildproductions directory.

Try downloading and installing this pet package of Pale Moon made for Fossapup64 9.5
http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... x86_64.pet

It is version 28.13.0 and hopefully turn Pale Moon into that version.
It should, because the pet packages compiled for Fossapup64 9.5 do that.
they are coded to get around the fact that Pale Moon is built into Fossapup64 9.5

Run Pale Moon and see if it is showing as this version 28.13.0
If yes.
Use the Pale Moon internal update to keep updating it until it shows as version 31.1.0
help -> Check for updates.......
See if it is also using the old profile you have in /root/.moonchildproductions directory.

Note:
Pale Moon does not even offer an update to v30.0.0 anymore.
It goes from v29 to 31.

MAKE SURE to update the save to make these changes stick.

@bigpup Oh, I didn't know there are more versions of FossaPup. Mine is the default FossaPup64 9.5.
I downloaded & installed the pet ― and it worked; including the Profile.

It is not exactly more versions of Fossapup64 9.5, but some out there that have fossa in their names.

I was trying to help someone and they kept saying they where using Fossapup.
So I kept giving them ideas and possible fixes based on how and what is in Fossapup64 9.5
finally after stuff not working or working differently.
Finally found out they were not using Fossapup64 9.5 but one that had fossa in the name.
they thought fossapup was a way to shorten the name from what it actually was.
