kiosk mode for Firefox

Had no idea it offered this option. Mostly got to looking at linux kiosk mode distributions after playing with Chromebook I got for total of $12 plus tax on Ebay. Thinking ChromeOS is lot like kiosk though I have no use for a kiosk. I am guessing they made nothing after paying shipping. Its in nice enough shape, three little bright spots on screen, not that noticeable. no charger, and think the version ChromeOS is about expired. Not "managed" so going to eventually try putting Puppy or Easy on it as only OS. Should be powerful enough, has 4GB RAM and 4core Celeron, but only 16GB eMMC. Battery seems good shape.

I am not sure I quite understand people paying significant money for a new chromebook, but after I got it online it was usable. I had to use create_ap to create a hotspot since I dont have wifi otherwise. And it would only use the hotspot connection in "guest" mode. Apparently a known problem with Chromebooks. Claimed no connection trying to set up google account, despite the wifi app showing it connected. not that I wanted to officially set it up with Google. Whats weird Mr. Chromebox only offers a live script to install new bios, cant apparently do it offline. So interesting to see if it can run the script via hotspot connection. Next step before new bios, have open it and remove the security screw.

I figured if nothing else, since its fanless, that I could use it as full screen clock. In guest mode it can only access files from external drive. Hey $12 isnt that bad for a clock. LOL

Probably should start a better thread. But anyway fast data back on phone and thus tethered computer. Following this recipe: https://joshuawoehlke.com/galliumos-del ... book-3120/ got full UEFI MrChromebox bios flashed. Didnt install Gallium. Intend to eventually put Bookworm version EasyOS on it, but for now put Bodhi Linux on as I already have the iso. Its a small Ubuntu variation that I had around and figured the Ubuntu installer would handle UEFI without any serious consideration. Anyway full install, left 9GB of the 16GB eMMC. Boots quick, even includes Chromium browser so guess didnt lose anything... LOL I much prefer the chromebook with linux. Bodhi deals with the small 11.6 inch screen quite well, doesnt make me squint and cool green theme. Seemed to support most or all of hardware, least keyboard and tracpad works.

Oh mention with fast data connection available, when I booted the chromebook to install new bios, the script actually worked, connected to Google and offered to let me set up Google-Chromebook user account. Nice to know it will work on hotspot, it just needed fast connection. I turned it down and logged in as chronos and did the UEFI bios.

Ok Bodhi doesnt have proper sound driver for the chromebook. Tried booting Easy from thumbdrive, it boots fine, but no sound driver either.

Then tried something always wondered. I plugged external dvdrom in with a MX-21 dvd. First interesting, it booted, has UEFI option in the dvd. Didnt know they did that. Next it has driver for both sound chips, yea, who knew, it has two sound chips for some reason. Pick your favorite, one is the tiniest bit louder than the other. With sound settings maxxed out, it can be heard. Its not nearly as robust sound as it was with original ChromeOS. So would want to use amplified external speakers or a headphone. Oh and goofy keyboard. Up arrow doesnt work.
