Moving on, as Puppy and the Board are clearly predominately supportive of Russian actions in conflict with my own standing.
If Fatdog opts to disassociate and forum elsewhere I may return to booting it, but failing that prefer other choices that have openly expressed support of Ukraine.

I'd be happy to host a separate forum for FatDog if Kirk, James, Jake, and Step are good with that.

Are you crazy????????????????????????
Now I feel you have attacked me personally.
WHERE ON THIS FORUM IS THERE A LACK OF SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE?
That would be something eh? Us claiming to be there for the Ukrainians because I'll only allow ONE point of view.
Of course we all realize the gravity of the situation, and I'm against the Russian aggression in the strongest way....shit I spent my youth training to KILL Russians taught how by my Government...waiting for any second the bright flash of nuclear weapons impacting around the corner. That's the cold war for ya......still I had a Russian roommate and fond memories working with Russians on some projects.
I would have to condemn some of my own family for their actions during WWII, Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht...plenty of killing and destruction......got the 3 Iron Crosses to remind me of the futility of it all....but guess what? I loved my Grandfather very much.
I believe in redemption.
And I stand by what I wrote before.........name ANYONE and I'll point out a committed atrocity they've performed.
I now have my own misgivings about this entire forum and Puppy Linux. The censors and the righteous have spoken......
I am considering shutting the forum off completely today. Not worth our hard work finding balance.
Sounds like the cancel culture has won again.

@rockedge, no offense but that seems a bit extreme. I only mentioned hosting elsewhere as a suggestion but it was not done in protest of your actions or contributions to this community. When I first posted the reply I hadn't even understood the rationale around rufwoof's original post. If Kirk and James would rather keep FatDog here then that's perfectly fine by me too.
To be honest, even if my response had the intentions that you're alluding to, I hardly see that being cancel culture. Nobody is explicitly attacking you or preventing you from running this site. People aren't leaving in droves. It sounds like maybe you just need a break from maintaining the forum in general if it's causing too much stress.

C'mon rockedge, you wouldn't want to shut down the forum because of someone overreacting, that would be overreaction from you IMO .

That's an over-reaction.
Maybe the correct reaction is to reassess whether off topic political and religious discussions have a place on a technical message board like this one or do they just keep us from what should be our purpose here, which is developing and promoting the linux distro's we build and use [and other technical or non-technical stuff besides religion and politics].
If nothing else, consider giving religion and politics it's own section and letting us block it.
Frankly, I do my best not to read any of that stuff and only saw this because it was in the Fatdog forum.

@fredx181 Nah I'm not shutting anything down...now I'm set on defiance.
Newly inspired after spinning some Sex Pistol tunes.......I won't obey.....need to be INCLUSIVE..the only way to be.
I am trying to finish the PLUG file.....it's working well and I am close to having a KLV-Airedale completed from script!
Also not removing anything, Russian, Chinese, American....except for Windows and Apple stuff.....I'll limit that.
I have reached out to rufwoof to reconsider leaving and removing all the posts and topics.

I would take rufwoof's point of view as being about 'sanctions' really. But I doubt if Zelensky would include Puppy Linux forum as a needed part of the kind of sanctions he wishes were more full-on. The problem also becomes who to sanction, at what point in history, and when. Personally I think it is good to penalise Russia for their actions as much as possible, despite having nothing against Grey or other Russian's personally, but torn though I somewhat am, I do feel it is too much going to the extent of preventing individuals from any country taking part in a technical forum like this. I'm not so sure though about political opinions - all too easy to turn even a simple technical forum into a political-speak loudspeaker via its truly off-topic section. I haven't, to be fair, seen 'much' evidence of that happening, from any side or opinion, except regarding Covid issues, where sanctions have also been basically asked for. Overall, seems to me nothing overly over-the-top is occurring here though; nothing that hasn't been controlled via normal moderation - otherwise, I'd go with dancytron and suggest simply shutting down truly off-topic area and basically banning any political or religious-oriented speech since they are the great dividers; normal off-topic is always fine and useful anyway.
As for the sanctions being applied to Russia more generally, the economic sanctions and political cold shoulder... I am fully in support of that and it pains me that Western governments/people are at the same time so greedy in terms of taking so long to cut off purchases of gas and oil, which just goes to show how two-faced people can be. And of course, it cannot be denied how two-faced we all are anyway in terms of history and guilt. Then there is the matter of China - should we block Chinese people too, and at what do stage do we stop buying most of our purchases from that country?
I certainly don't myself feel the step of 'moving-on', in itself, makes any difference at all; helpful to neither the forum, nor any person leaving the forum on such a basis, but when to no longer take part is an individual decision of course. Taking away all our posts on leaving, would be more aggressive of course, since content is valuable and especially from someone innovative like rufwoof. If you do go rufwoof, please consider leaving what you have contributed here since otherwise you would be also hurting others unnecessarily. I don't think you should go though, and ask you to reconsider that, though I do understand your feelings; similar feelings also plague me a bit sometimes too.
No topics in the forum causes more discord and hard feelings than those in "Truly off-topic conversations", or elsewhere, relating to religion, politics, social issues, and ideology. A number of valued members have publicly announced their departure because of those topics and post. Others probably silently disappear.
Since the huge majority of members are drawn here by their common interest in Puppy Linux, why would the forum continue to host those things that cause such conflict? Other forums and platforms are easily available for such discussions.
Why not set forum policy as "Keep your religion, politics, social issues, and ideology opinions to yourself" and put a stop to the problems they continually create.

@wizard the only reason it exists is because when I did not originally there was noise clamoring as to why not.
I propose eliminating it and all of it's topics completely.

I think the purpose of "Off-Topic" was to stop discussions like this in other forum areas. However, I had my own taste of simple news spiralling out of control earlier in the year, so I think @rockedge is right. I have mentioned my Christian faith in just a few comments over my 17 years on Puppy forums, but don't think I should elaborate uninvited, regardless of the importance to me. Perhaps a forum preamble could spell out prohibited topics, as per an Admins/Mods considered decision.

Well, by clicking on: Puppy Linux International, Russian - Россия
