How to set up the touchpad in VanillaDPup 9.2.0? (Solved)

Post by Maybe »

Hello @dimkr !

I am amazed at the speed of VanillaDPup 9.2.0!

I didn't find a setting for the touchpad. I remember that in versions 9.1.x these settings could be found in "Puppy settings"

@dimkr , please tell me how to set up the touchpad (cursor speed and temping) in version 9.2.0?

The same way as in every other Puppy.

9.1.x had Xwayland, and Puppy's input device settings work much better under Xwayland. When using X.Org, you'll need to find another way to do this - via xorg.conf or something.

Testing preview 14 in my 32-bit netbook.

When I attempt to configure my Synaptics touchpad, it reports that no such device was found. The /tmp/xerrs.log file shows that 'synclient' is missing. I see that it is also missing from the 64-bit preview14.

I resolved this by installing xserver-xorg-input-synaptics with the PPM and then restarting the graphic server (X).

EDIT: This added package is not needed after preview 14. Thanks, dimkr.

The next preview build of 9.2.0 (hopefully, the last one) will have a solution for this: https://github.com/puppylinux-woof-CE/woof-CE/pull/3130

EDIT: try preview15
