Puppy Event Manager doesn't automount drives

Post by Subito Piano »

Hi! I've had many, many puppies installed over the years and always set Puppy Event Manger to mount USB sticks when inserted, bringing up Rox-filer. For some reason, my current install of FossaPup does not mount the sticks and open the file manager, but instead brings up pMount. This is annoying, especially since I'm trying to schedule rsync to copy to a USB stick daily. I'd prefer to insert the stick when I boot up and have my files synced without my thinking about mounting it. Yeah, there are workarounds, I'm sure, but Event Manager is supposed to take care of this. Any thoughts?

It reads like you're writing about handler, the second selection under Desktop Icons/Icon Handler in Puppy Event Manager.

The other idea is to have it mount at boot, which requires having it inserted at boot. The setting is in pmount, but can also be manual if you prefer editing setting text.

Yes, I have the handler checked. I've never had an issue with this using prior releases. To double-check, I rebooted into pristine FossaPup (i.e., pfix=ram) and still, with appropriate checkboxes ticked, upon insertion of a USB stick, PMount opened up to mount the stick; it neither mounted nor (of course) did Rox-filer open to show the files on it. IDK if this is the experience of others using FossaPup, one would think if that were the case, others would have mentioned it long ago and the issue would have been addressed by an update...??

I've noticed this misbehaviour in Slacko64 7.0, too.
I suspect this is related to the new pup_event_frontend

Similar hassles I think of it as a retrograde-advance. Even 32-land is not immune.

Auto-Pmount should at least be a setting.

Though, you seem advanced enough to handle some modest interactivity.

I like the term Creators' Perogative.
