Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
I discovered puppy linux at the beginning of 2020, so I can't comment on all versions since the puppy was born.
I started with Bionicpup64, then I tried Fatdog64, Bionicpup32, DpupStretch32, ... later Fossapup64 and also Vanilladpup64.
Now my main dog is Fatdog.
I consider it the best, mainly because it behaves best on my hardware.
I also like it because it has some great features that regular Puppy doesn't have (eg multisession SFS).
In addition to Fatdog, I sometimes use Fossapup and I'm also interested in Voidpup64.
I found out that if a person has a limited time, he will actually be able to fully use 1 or at most 2 puppies

Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
So I started using puppy since last year, but have testes a lot of puppy's and among them my favourite is fossapup.
Now if you ask me why, there is simple reason behind it- the other puppys I tested were all prior to v1, so obviously fossapup will be the best of them (just a poor joke, ignore ). But on a serious note, I like to upgrade. So my next main puppy will be jammypup/jellypup.
I have tested a lot of other linux distros, like kubuntu, porteus, and 3-4 more, but I chose puppy amongst them all. My laptop is nearly 12 year old, so it was not able to run kubuntu properly. Otherwise my linux learning main would have been puppy, but my main os to work on would have been kubuntu.

It has but not awful to regurgitate.
X-Tahr for the speed of usability. XFCE is a big part of that but not the only reason, and like every pup it has its quirks.

When push comes to a massive shove i would pick xenial 32bit as this was my first pup.I enjoy fossapup also.
Xenialpup32 is the only pup i have managed to get the fs-uae amiga emulator running although to be fair i have not attempted it on fossapup just yet.
scpup is another favourite also.

Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
Hi! I started in 2010 with Puppy-5.1.1, going through all versions until I got to Fossapup64-9.5. What I liked the most was Puppy-5.2.8. What I used the longest (and still use) were the Slacko64 versions. At the same time, I was also using FatDog64, having started using the FatDog64-700 (2015) and all subsequent releases until today.
I currently use: FatDog64-812, BionicPup32-8.0, Vanilladpup-9.0.x, Slacko64-8.2.2(in testing), VoidPup64-22.02, DebianDog64.
Favorite Puppy? Puppy-5.2.8 But as time passes, it is necessary to move on....
My Battle System: FatDog64-812
Perfect for 32bit notebook: BionicPup32-8.0
School of Learning: DebianDog64(from Professor Fredx)
Eternal: Slacko64-8.2.2
Much appreciated: Vanilladpup-9.0.x
A promise: VoidPup64-22.02
I also used various x86 versions of Quirky, such as Unicorn, Tahr, Quirky, Pyro, and April.
Amd64 versions of Quirky like April, Beaver, Easy, Pyro, Slaq and Xerus.
A lot of time and work from the developers.... We should be grateful!

Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
The first Puppy version to really seem to get it all working and looking good.
Up until it, Puppy for the most part worked, but always seemed to not be completely finished.
Well, a lot of trying stuff was going on in those days of Puppy Linux.
Puppy 4.3.1
There was some visual stuff in it, that really made Puppy look like a finished operating system.
There was a lot of complaining, when the next Puppy version was developed, and did not have some of the stuff that was in 4.3.1
The last few years.
Any of the newer Puppy or Puppy like versions really make Puppy Linux competitive with any other Linux OS's.
Fossapup64 9.5 for my main computer.
Raspup and EasyOS for the Raspberry Pi computers, used on a Raspberry Pi 400.
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected

I'm addicted to Slacko Puppy since 2015.
Though Slacko Puppies seems to be kind of neglected, i always liked it's clear and simple structure.
Struggling with upcoming Slacko 8.whatever though.
We'll see what the future brings...

Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
Although I've used many Puppies since 2005, ScPup64 is my favourite, but older Slacko64 & Tahrpup64 good.
Earlier Pups always showed promise, but never quite got there for me. Jemimah also presented as a
tremendous dev & did some great stuff in a short time, but suddenly vanished - hope the gators around her
southern US home didn't get her!

Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
If I interpret the question to be What was my favorite, I'd probably say:
Saluki/Carolina because it was so revolutionary; or
Xenialpup because I spent so much time 'fleshing it out' and the knowledge I gained made that easy to flesh out later puppys.
If I interpret the question to be What is my favorite, that would be Fossapup64,
maybe because it's the default Puppy on grub.cfg and as that condition can be changed in a couple of minutes that it hasn't been suggests I prefer it to others my grub.cfg will boot because:
after much fiddling Fossapup64 now does what and everything I ask of it or
because I like the wallpaper that appears when it reaches desktop:

Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
Like @mikeslr I've got to say Saluki and then Carolina & Carolina Vanguard by Battleshooter. Amazing puppies that I used for a long time, eeking out every last drop of usage from them.
Now I use Fatdog. I've used probably 50 different pups since the 2 series. Some I took the time to make my own, some I didn't use for long. The ones I used the longest were:
4.31
5.20
6.0? Tahrpup
Fatdog 8 series
Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
Favourite - Wary Puppy (used that for the longest time); Best - Xenial32-bit. To be honest, all 666philb's Puppys have been very solid and reliable for me so Fossa may well be the best but I don't use 64-bit on my old machine so haven't tried it. Still using Xenial 32.

Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
Heh. Eee, that's a hard one to answer, 'cos I like 'em all.....but 3 stand out head & shoulders above the rest.
Racy 5.5.1
Slacko 5.6.0, and
jrb's 'lite' spin on BK's Quirky64 April 7.0.1 - my "daily driver" for the last 3 years, and one of the most reliable Puppies I've ever used. Workhorse, test-bed, experimental platform, it just takes everything in its stride....and runs as smooth as silk no matter what I'm doing with it. A truly inspirational Puppy. No disrespect to all our other devs, but Barry's title of "the PuppyMaster" always was well-deserved.
Mike.
Re: What's Your Favourite Puppy Of All Time?
Racy 5.5.1
Basically the same as Wary but with newer X (also a newer kernel). That was probably the first Puppy to enter the "new era" of Puppys. Had some stability issues with X server on some of my older machines so Wary worked better for me at the time.
