We, in the technology world, are heading into a new existence never seen before in mankind's history.

In warfare, in the past, it was normal to use deception/lies/misinformation on purpose to deceive and disguise the other side (aka enemy).

This advanced to being used within countries by politicians and church leaders.

Technology that WE have produced, has allowed that ability to be placed in the hands of corporations who have extended that ability to peoples of the world.

We have OR are at a point of dystopian existence where after quality education, students entering the world are subjected to the warfare tactics that have not been available to citizens during the time/life of their parents. It is happening all around us as citizen warfare is increasing based upon information evidence or basis becoming the norm for understanding. This then leads people to go on the attack of each other based upon misleading guidance. Yes, our technology has placed us into this never before seen exisitence where the evidence/facts/correct answers no longer matter.

OK, I KNOW technology did not create human behavior, but almost off of us here, know the difference between an instruction that works vs one that is a bug. And it is in this vain, where human-kind is making obvious that it cannot decide.

This is now where we are and Elon in all of his creations is now about to enter a new creation into our existence. See this review. And, please understand that Elon is merely attempting to do what Ruppert Murdock did to the US with his media purchases and the new themes they present.

Its not technology that is the problem, it is our designs where instead of guiding technology to present evidence data we are using it to disregard data; and instead, create and support partisan divides.

We need new thoughts that can be fashioned at the academic level to help students who will be entering the world of technology design will KNOW to how to force information toward the accurate evidence and weed out the destructive messages that want to, laughingly, disrupt. In technology, waywards are called 'viruses'. How do we teach students to create and work on the building blocks necessary across all of the spectrums they will encounter?

We, technology peoples, are now faced with a challenge we've never experienced at this level. It has now reached dystopian levels. And WE have to move things in the world to fix it.

As I look at our students anxious to enter societies, I am now fearful that they will ignore things, as we have, to thrust us further into a world where the people at the top (rich) will have control and the rest of us will wallow in a social cesspool while the control of technology will not serve us as we have hoped where all of mankind become increasingly smarter and helpful.

Remember, when you were kids graduating, you had hoped for a world of increased intelligence where you would contribute?

I am sure we can think of solutions for teaching students in how best to develop, guide, and use technology to guide us out of this current dystopia.

YOUR various technology backgrounds which result in how we fix problems and develop new things may be just what we all need to hear to allow mankind to move forward.

This post is an APPEAL for ideas of our technology use and any future ability to improve us!

I think people in the United States are starting to really see what you are talking about and STARTING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Funny, how easy to jump on the idea, that what he says he wants to do, is not what he really wants to do, with Twitter

I think Professor Reich's concern is that Musk will do to the internet what Murdock did to American News and talk show media: namely creating a platform where it is unclear what is factual evidence and outright untruths versus exaggerations that result in dangerous consequences without any regard to responsibility for the outcome.

Murdock has made a fortune on this from the US people while his hands are clean as this is a profitable business in media.

Musk sees the same opportunity for a greater fortune using the internet technology to do the same.

One potential, I see in technology just might be via the virtual worlds that FACEBOOOK is off to (and, now, US businesses too). People may move into those 'worlds' on the internet and abandon the potential that Musk intends.

The primary theme must be one of education systems that graduate students to how to distinguish actual evidences and not get trapped in fictitious information in both their professional careers as well as their personal lives.

WE, mankind, has got to reach a point of trusted information much like we have in Operating Systems like Puppy Linux while ensuring that it is creditably designed to not allow viruses to shut the Operating system down by changing its behavior.

I want to be optimistic that WE know how to steer technology such that graduating students (our developers of the future) will have enough foundational training to build what is needed to support a beneficial tomorrow. They need our help to distinguish what the technology system can do to put them into a world of data analysis, and evidence that we call science. The more of them that know this, the greater the chance of them building a better world for all; themselves and their generations that follow.

And for Musk, he sees money the same as he sees DogeCoins, Battery tech, near-earth comm needs, medical human brain, and his other industry movements. His interest is exploitation and control of information (the product in this case) in such a way as to gain market share...no matter the cost.
