86Box. Low level IBM PC x86 emulator

Post by Grey »

The future of PCem is foggy, this future hides from us a fog as thick as in the 19th century over London. But there is 86Box, an x86 emulator based on PCem and even with an improved interface.

AppImage can be taken here. And here is a ROM set.
The order of work is as follows. First download and unpack the ROM set, then rename the resulting folder to roms and put it in the same directory where AppImage is located. Now you can run AppImage itself (don't forget to make it executable).

I recommend playing the good old Czech puzzle game Boovie (from the future authors of The Black Mirror quest).
Also, the Quadrax game from neighboring (for the Czech Republic) Slovakia is able to take out your brain :)
I played both of these games on ZX Spectrum, I can say that MS-DOS versions are also good.

Fossapup OS, Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, 64 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB, Sound Blaster Audigy Rx with amplifier + Yamaha speakers for loud sound, USB Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro V3 + headphones for quiet sound.
