I find this chart an excellent reference for the USB "bus".

Please understand that this is the bus behavior. It is NOT how the devices on the bus will behave. It is well known that USB stick's performance is all over the speed map(s).

Re: An Understanding of USB Technology

I tend to take the view that this kind of thing is mainly for the tech enthusiasts, rarely for those of us who live in the real world!

It doen't matter what standard is the current, 'de-facto' one in general use. All standards take time to filter down into the real world that most of us inhabit, and by the time the current whizz-bang specifications have become regularly implemented by motherboard & peripheral manufacturers, you can guarantee there's another one looming on the horizon, promising even faster data transfer...

Witness the debacle over PCI-e4; it being released before PCI-e3 was even generally available!

Feast on the promised speeds all you want, drool if you must.....but remember to take it all with a rather large pinch of salt.

Mike. ;)
