/etc/modules

Post by amethyst »

I've had some stability issues lately (JWM crashes). I was wondering whether the change and testing of different kernels have something to do with this. /etc/modules is populated with a few files (a kernel specific config file is one of them) when booting with a kernel. I've noticed that the files created for other kernels that have been tried, are also there. So a mix up of sorts perhaps leading to the instability issues? I see that this folder is empty in the original base sfs and then gets populated at boot. Anyways - I delete the contents of this folder now whenever I save changes.

@amethyst - is good to clear this when you change kernels whilst using a savefile (or folder). Also, under same
circumstances, /lib/modules with different kernel entries may exist, containing any kernel-specific drivers
you have installed. These should also be uninstalled or deleted before changing kernels.
