Internet Setup

This topic assumes you are using one of the recommended distro's or remasters

This tutorial will cover the two most common types of connection.

  • Ethernet, hard wire

  • Wireless, wifi

This icon in the right of the taskbar shows your connection status
If it’s blue or flashing one green box, you are connected.
If it has a red X you are not connected.

Connect using Ethernet

  1. click Menu>Setup>Internet Connection Wizard

  2. click the Wired or Wireless LAN button

  3. click the Simple Network Setup button

  4. click the Interfaces tab

  5. click the eth0 button (might be a different number)

If you have no ethXX device then your Ethernet is not recognized and you should request assistance on the Puppy Linux Forum

If you get a successful connection window:

  1. click OK

  2. click Set as default

  3. click OK

Connect Using Wireless

  1. -click Menu>Setup>Internet Connection Wizard

  2. click the Wired or Wireless LAN button

  3. click the Simple Network Setup button

  4. click the Interfaces tab

  5. click the wlan0 button (might be a different number)

If you have no wlan device then your wireless is not recognized and you should request assistance on the Puppy Linux Forum

If the available wireless networks window opens:

  1. choose your wireless network name (ssid)

  2. enter your password

  3. click the connect button
