PanWriter-0.8.3.AppImage doesn't run : Why ?

I downloaded it, I made it executable with

chmod a+x PanWriter-0.8.3.AppImage

The --no-sandbox option is necessary.
I typed in a terminal :

./PanWriter-0.8.3.AppImage --no-sandbox

Then,Then, I got the following error message :

Update for version 0.8.3 is not available (latest version: 0.8.3, downgrade is disallowed).
checkForUpdatesAndNotify called, downloadPromise is null
[6758:0211/112615.667508:ERROR:sandbox_linux.cc(376)] InitializeSandbox() called with multiple threads in process gpu-process.

I don't understand it.
But I saw that the '/root/.config/PanWriterUserData/settings.yaml' file did not exist in the tree.

Can somebody to help me ?

Other than noting the dbus errors --which I don't know how to overcome-- I don't know why it doesn't run. I do know that you didn't tell us which Puppy you are running. If you did tell us which Puppy in a previous post (a) you have an unrealistic opinion of your importance thinking we'd remember; and (b) you may now be using a different Puppy.

Not all AppImages will run in all Puppies. AppImages are supposed to be 'self-contained': include all dependencies. But there are thousands of LInux versions, all built slightly differently. Creators of AppImages only test against Ubuntu, and a couple of the 'major players'. Puppy is not among those; and Puppy comes in many flavors, each built somewhat differently.

FYI, for a 'distraction-free' word-processor, you might want to try focuswriter, https://gottcode.org/focuswriter/ which is available for many Linuxes, and runs OOTB under many Puppys. Older versions can be found for older Puppys, for example, https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/viewtop ... 7f#p896941

Uh. that's your problem, right there.

From what I understand, no official packages from anywhere will actually run under 'Dunfell'.....other than those Barry has compiled specifically for Dunfell's dedicated repo. I don't pretend to understand why this is so, but I DO know you're not the first to come up against this issue....
