Have a levono thinkstation p340.

Grub2 seems to be interfering with Bionicpup64 booting properly.

So how do I remove grub2 and install grub4dos instead?

Unless you removed it, grub4dos is already present: Menu>Setup>Grub4dos bootloader config. But if not present it can be downloaded and installed by using Menu>Setup>Puppy Package Manager.

But before changing boot-loaders, why do you think Grub2 is interfering? How did you install it? Did you select Bios ONLY? What interference do you observe?

There is Grub2config.

From what I read, it is confusing to use Grub2config, and it frequently gives errors.

Considering, how confusing Grub2config, and the errors it causes, grub4dos looks like
the better choice.

With the publication of Grub2config2.0.1, viewtopic.php?p=34604#p34604 shinobar resolved almost all the problems you'd expect from a new application that is intended to function on computers which could be manufactured having scores of different ways of doing things.
There are a couple of situations when it still can't be used; but with one exception neither can grub4dos. Perhaps you might scan the grub2config thread from the above post forward and see if your situation has been mentioned. If not, you could bring it to shinobar's attention. Whenever possible he will make an effort to perfect the applications he publishes.

It would help if you tell us exactly what happens when you try to boot Bionicpup64?

Installed on what drive?

If you are trying to use plain grub2 you got from the internet.
That may be your problem.
It does not know how to properly setup a boot menu entry for Puppy Linux.

Grub2config does.

you should be able to install both at the same time. your thinkstation bios setup can dictate whether to boot uefi or not. this presumes grub2 works with something and has the needed fat32 partition. getting it to work with bionic may just be getting the boot stanza correct as bigpup has already mentioned.

Old versions of G4D don't work on the newer machines, so that could be confusing itself.

If G2C is just for newer machines, and it works, I'll use it first unless it doesn't.

The way you use either is just run them. If you choose, they overwrite your existing boot.
