Which grub does Lick use ?

Does it use grub2?

Still trying to figure out this dell.

Thinking that the dell might be using grub2.

All I know is when using the dell grub, lick programs always show at 600x800 resolution.

Can't get a higher resolution, because the dell thinks it is using a cirrus graphics card.

Appreciate any help you can give.

Lick uses grub2, but perhaps not the most up-to-date version.

What you describe can be interpreted in two ways: "when using the dell grub, lick programs always show at 600x800 resolution"
If that describes the resolution of your BOOT SPLASH SCREEN you may have to live with it. Maybe someone else knows how to configure the splash screen's resolution under Puppy's use of grub2. It doesn't employ the 'Bells & Whistles' of plymouth or similar applications.
If, however, '600x800' pixel resolution is all you can get after boot-up, then its not a problem with Lick: its a problem with the operating system you are using on your computer.

What computer? What graphic card? What Puppy? Perhaps all that is lacking is some firmware: an easy fix. Firmware is packaged in an 'fdrv.sfs'. It is NOT kernel specific. So all you'd have to do is download a package and rename it to correspond to your Puppy --e.g. fdrv_upupbb_19.03.sfs-- place it next to e.g. puppy_upupbb_19.03.sfs and reboot. But if your Puppy doesn't have the graphic drivers for your computer's graphic card you'd have to (a) change Puppys, or (b) swap-kernels for a kernel which does support your computer. Ask how to swap kernels if you don't already know.

If you are talking about what you see for Grub menu and the first parts of the boot process.
600X800 resolution is used on purpose.
To assure no matter what the computer/hardware is, it will show the boot menu.

After the X server loads up and the operating system takes over control of the computer.
The resolution should be getting adjusted to more of what the default resolution is for the hardware.

You need to provide more info and answer the questions you have been asked.

Have used wingrub, grub 2.06 and that fixed the graphics problem temporary.

Used lick, and the graphics problem came back. Grub 2.02.

People have made many good suggestions to improve Lick and noryb009 has done nothing.

Someone needs to make a fork of Lick with the latest Grub. Right now the latest grub is 2.06

Might take a look at it. But my gui skills are very very very rusty.

Maybe do it in the command line interface.

Versions of Grub below 2.06 have vulnerability dubbed "BootHole" allows for malicious code to be inserted into the system at early boot time via GRUB and can even be exploited on UEFI SecureBoot enabled systems.

Lick definitely needs a security update to prevent this vulnerability.
