A "modern" way to test your luck - buying unseen video cards

Post by Grey »

Loot boxes with video cards appeared on the Japanese Amazon. The buyer is offered to pay a certain amount for the so-called Lucky Box - a box with a random video card, among which there may be both a brand-new flagship GeForce RTX 3090 accelerator and a used GeForce GT 710. At the moment all offers are sold out.

What exactly the buyer will get depends on luck. But the seller promises that the buyer "will definitely get a video card," at least some kind :) The chances of getting the latest generation accelerator are only 2%. The probability of getting GeForce RTX 20-series or Radeon RX 5000 card models out of the box is 4%. The GeForce GTX 10 and Radeon RX 500 series models, as well as the GeForce GTX 900 Series or Radeon RX 300 Series will be found in only 8 and 16% of boxes, respectively. The remaining 70% is occupied by older video cards, that is, various kinds of "plugs", like GeForce GT 710.

Lotteries and their variants will never stop working :)

Anyone who buys unseen or not knowing what they are buying is a fool and deserves everything they get. Iv'e conned a few and don't feel guilty at all . As Barnaby used to say "Never give a sucker an even break"

The Australian State Governments have all enacted laws to steal your assets on your death. All legal paperwork is binned and all assets seized on one disgruntled child's complaint.Move them well before you die or go into a home.

A modern way to test your luck

By no means "modern". Fukubukuro is an old Japanese tradition and still very popular. Mostly found in clothes shops at New Year but nowadays you can find them in shops where you wouldn't expect them. Just today I saw them in a bakery

One of my computers is assembled from suspicious Chinese components purchased separately for several months on Ali. It has been working perfectly for two years. Why call me a sucker right away :)

It was not the method itself that was meant, but the contents - the video cards. But if you insist, I won't mind changing the name of the topic

Modern "way" sounds like method, not contents, but since video cards were still very rare in the Meiji era and therefore seldom ended up in grab bags you have a point. No need to change the topic

I read about someone who raffled off a dead mule. He only had to pay back the winner of the raffle.

Honest question, how do you find those 'used' stuff boxes on Amazon?

I see YouTubers fix broken stuff from Amazon, but never see actually "How" to actually buy them.

Would be curious for old handhelds, etc, personally like Gameboys, etc.
