Tried to to get windows to install puppy linux thru lick.

Does not work.

But I can get a puppy linux cd to fully load with a resolution of 1920x1080

Videoinfo from grub says the video card is cirrus.

This is way wrong.

How do i get only certain video cards to load.

And block other video cards?

This dell optiplex 3080 is refusing cooperate.

Need all the suggestions I can find.

@Lassar :-

AFAIK - and I've researched this quite a bit myself - there IS no way to have more than one GPU connected to the system, and enable/disable them via a software "solution". There might be a way in Windoze, but to the best of my knowledge it can't be done under Linux.....with, perhaps, the "Bumblebee" thing for the Nvidia Optimus set-up being the sole exception.

It's very tempting to assume there's a software 'solution' for absolutely everything.....but the most effective way to disable any discrete GPU is simply to disconnect it from the mobo. You can't, of course, do this for modern CPUs where the GPU is built onto the same die.....it's on all the time, whether you want it or not, only being auto-disabled when a PCI-e video card is detected as being plugged-in.

With regard to the "Cirrus" thing. Are you sure that isn't referring to the internal 'core' code-name for an "on-die" GPU? Do you have one of those?

Mike. ;)

Seem to remember that there is a way to block certain resolutions.

Is there a way to tell the pc to use vbe at different resolution.

My pc is a 10th generation I5 with integrated graphics.

Is there a way to tell the pc to use vbe at different resolution.

You could try unloading the relevant modules (don't do this for your integrated graphics) and you can invoke 'xorgwizard' at the terminal to configure video. As well nomodeset is a way to prevent the kernel from defining the resolution at start up.

Tell us what specific Puppy version you are using???????????

Run Pup-Sysinfo program.
Under Devices->Display->Summary

Post the info it provides, so we can see what is actually happening.

Tried to to get windows to install puppy linux thru lick.

Does not work.

What exactly does it do?????

If it is Windows 10.

First thing you need to do is make sure Windows 10 is shutdown completely normal shutdown.
Do not shutdown in hibernate.
Hibernate does not fully release control of the drive from Windows 10.

Info about using Lick is here:

Been doing more research on puppy boot options.

Seems there is a way to blacklist graphic drivers.

For example.
radeon.nomodeset=1

And what about loadmodules.

So, what do I do to blacklist the cirrus driver?

Am using a bionicpup64 on Dell Optiplex 3080 Desktop.

It uses Intel integrated CPU.

What about cirrus.nomodeset=1?
