Puppy only starts with "no X" option Fossapup64 9.5 [SOLVED]

Hello,

I boot puppy from a usb stick. With the default options, after loading sfs files, changing to a hi-res console and discovering network, unfortunately I get a black screen. It seems to me that the X Server is not configured properly.

I tried choosing the "no X" option at the grub menu, then I answer a couple of config questions (keyboard, timezone) and I get a command prompt. I give "startx", and to my surprise X works with no problem at all.

Is there something I can do to persist the good configuration?

From the live system I also tried a frugal install, but when I booted from the hard drive, I still got no X.

This is report-video from within the working system

Save your settings to a savefile/folder with the frugal install. At shutdown it will ask whether you want to create a savefile/folder.

In BionicPup64 and probably some others Pups, xwin and startx are completely different scripts.

xwin was written for Puppy.

startx is the standard script for Ubuntu, and does not include any code that addresses Puppy's features.

i would recommend not using startx.

Thank you for your answers. In the end I solved this problem in another way, by removing my Nvidia Card, which is now too old and probably not well supported by any driver. Then the intel onboard card was activated and everything worked.
