My nephew suggested I place this on my cellphone which I have done.
There is a .deb version for the desktop but the installation process is three steps for a generic Linux like puppylinux.
https://signal.org/download/#
is this beyond my pay grade to install?
It is possible?
Will it bork my Bionicpup64 setup?
Thanks.

Signal is, of course, like many such similar apps. The desktop app is simply a 'mirror' for the one on your cellphone/smartphone.
The phone app will happily function in standalone mode. The desktop app, on the other hand, is useless without a phone app to 'pair' it with.....
Which is one reason why out of all these apps, I still prefer Telegram. Because the desktop app functions happily by itself. Invariably, when someone suggests anything other than Telegram it's because that's what they themselves use.....and think everybody else should.
(*shrug*)
I very much doubt installing it will bork your Bionic install. At best, it'll do what it's supposed to do; at worst, it just won't do anything.
Mike.

Puppy accepts Debian package format. If signal app uses Qt and QtWebkit then. Run signal app as spot to make it work.

I see a lot of helpful advice here. Several ways to install, I have even checked personally. But with one nuance. When installing applications and programs requiring verification via SMS, I do not want to disclose my number. For some time, this was a huge problem for me. And I think I'm not the only one. Recently I found myself an ideal way to solve this problem. I just use uk temp number. It's very handy and easy to use. And what adds confidence is that all the numbers are absolutely free. And the SMS with verification comes within 8 seconds, and you can finish the registration.
