That's an interesting question. I just now looked at it on woof-CE:

I have attached the filemnt used in EasyOS. It has a false ".gz" appended.
My filemnt is a gradual evolution of the original filement from before 2010 -- you can see comments at the start of the script. The one in woof-ce looks like it has undergone considerably more evolution.
