I'm sorry about the thread name, but really didn't know how to describe it. I hope the image will give you a better idea of what I'm experiencing.
I tried to run bionic pup 32 live off of a USB drive and this is what I saw. I also tried fossa64 and bionic 64, as well as a full install of debian 11.
The screen looks normal in bios, during the install of debian also looked fine but as soon as it booted...
Now in puppy, if I change the screen resolution, it fixes it for about 15 second, then the screen blinks black and resetss to what you see.
The laptop is an old HP pavilion dv6015nr

Hi igorbarbarossa,
When you click the Apply button, does your screen turn black for 15 seconds? If so, then Puppy Linux is having a problem changing to that resolution. After 15 seconds Puppy Linux will reset to what it was originally. Please try a different resolution.
Howevever, when you click the Apply button and the screen does in fact change to your new resolution, and then after 15 seconds blinks black and resets...well that is something else. What Puppy Linux might be doing is changing your resolution, but forgetting to show you a confirmation window asking if you want to use this new resolution. If Puppy doesn't get a reply from you within 15 seconds, it assumes that you do not, and will blink black and reset to the last known resolution.
To address this, what you can do is instead of clicking the Apply button, click the Save button

The new resolution will be set up to be used, but it isn't active yet. To make it active, you can restart your X-Windows. To do that, please refer to the following:

Thank you all for your help. Ii messed with it for a few hours and figured out how to change the resolution. Seems like it doesn't like 1280x800.
I do have another issue though. I get an error when I try to install puppy to the hard drive.

Start a new topic about that issue.
Give some details about exactly how you are trying to do it.
