Xfractint SDL Alpha version for Linux

Fractint is one of the classic early Dos programs. It creates and manipulates a huge variety of fractals. I've never gotten it to run right in Dosbox, but this version runs pretty well and hasn't crashed.

The interface is Late '80's. Go to "saved command sets" for instant gratification.

Tested in Fossapup with peebee lxde addon and various Debian Dogs. You need to install the libSDL2_ttf-2.0 from the repo to make it work [or maybe just put the included version in the right place, I didn't try that]. Other than that, just unzip to a directory, set the main file to executable, and click on it.

I love Fractinit. Been using it since DOS quite often. I have it running well in DOSBox. I made some videos using it. I will give these versions a tryout!

This is completely produced using Puppy Linux Bionic64-9.5, DOSBox with FRACTINT a Roland D-50, Yamaha DX-11, Mini-Moog, MIDI USB adapter, LMMS, Openshot, WEX, SimpleScreenRecorder, Audacity, Canon G3 Powershot.

What did you use to get the effect with all the dots? Is that a 3d transform?

It's a never ending source of eye candy, that's for sure.

What I do is select the preset mandelcloud and adjust the interval value. I used a value of 150 which results like this:

I run the formula to make many many more orbits with a high value of intervals and layer it into a dense cloud, then color cycle and use a screen recorder.

3D transformation works with mandelcloud but I see little difference.

DOSBox 0.74-3 compiled in Fossapup64, FRACTINT 20.04.11

I couldn't resist and used the X,Y,Z axis zoom tool and video mode SF7 - super vga 1024 x 786 on the above calculations, rotated the axis Y and Z slightly and the result:
