Those mentioned are Windows versions; https://portableapps.com For puppy versions, you'd probably need to search both the old and new forums. Mike Walsh? has posted all sorts of browsers and a portable version of deadbeef media player. http://www.portablefreeware.com/ is a windows portable application site as well, but a lot of their stuff is cross platform. Versions for Linux, Wins and Mac.

These are not Linux portable applications.
Only compiled for Windows OS.
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

Probably should be pointed out that windows portable applications have a better than average chance to run in linux under wine.

Yup. Mikeslr & I have both been running Windows portable apps from https://portableapps.com/ for simply ages. Not all of 'em work, but a greater percentage run under WINE than don't.
Most of the graphics apps are "gold", BTW. No issues here at all.

Hmm...interesting.
I think this is more for semi-devs, though thanks for the thought! I know probono specialises in re-packaging Qt5-powered applications from all over the place. He actually builds the AppImages from the ground up, whereas what I do is to build simplified packages that are based around a ready-built AppImage somebody else has already created.
Fred might be interested in this, y'know.....
