How to discover Pale Moon's base? [SOLVED]

Chromium-based browsers and Tor tend to indicate which version of Chromium and Firefox they're based on respectively.

How do we find that information for Pale Moon? It's neither in the browser's About or Release Notes. http://www.palemoon.org/releasenotes.shtml

Tahr default is 25.
Xenial is 27(.6.1).

I'm in 29.4.1, Firefox :?:

When I use my Palemoon version 29.1.1 to go to my website, I can see in the logs that Palemoon's user-agent is reported as

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Goanna/4.8 Firefox/68.0 PaleMoon/29.1.1

Researching via http://www.palemoon.org/info.shtml

Pale Moon will be released independently, as it uses a different source code and release plan, different versioning scheme, and is not affiliated with or subject to either code releases or publication plans of Mozilla. Pale Moon is an independently developed product derived from Mozilla/Firefox code, but will most certainly not be in any way bound to developments seen in the Mozilla corner.

My quick searching Palemoon's forums and git repository did not show Mozilla base information per release. Palemoon's Wikipedia page doesn't have this information as well. So hopefully my user-agent hack is helpful.

This is the kind of info I usually see in Chromium-based browsers. I use Firefox 66, only one .deb in Xenial onward but runs in Tahr with many dependencies. It's a bit of a surprise that Pale Moon 29 would be back at 68. Development must of stopped more than a little bit ago.

Maybe I should set up my own site to see my own browsers' user-agents.

Hack away on your web server!

Palemoon is actively being developed, but releases are not very often. I ran a local test of Palemoon vs Firefox (newest versions at the time) and saw that Firefox was more snappy and used about the same about of memory resources. Palemoon is a smaller install (I think about 35MB less than a Firefox SFS). They both are good at browsing, so I'm not picking one over the other.

Pale Moon user agent can be found in Help -> Troubleshooting information (not sure if this is the correct name because i have installed german language pack...)
Alternatively in the URL-bar you can type about:support

Type about:config and search for user agent. It seems different "components" of user agent are based on different versions of Firefox.

Firefox/31.9 - PaleMoon/25.8.1 (Tahr)

Firefox/52.9 - PaleMoon/27.6.1 (Xenial)

Firefox/68.0 - PaleMoon/28.16

Firefox/68.0 - PaleMoon/29.4.1

Tahr default here fairly old. Who uses Firefox 31.9 for anything? :|

HerrBert on the spot.

Just discovered/updated in last post: if Pale Moon 28 & 29 have the same user agent, that choice was made easy.

I'm running 28 in Tahr.

29 won't run in Bionic (meaning without dependencies).
