Bionicpup32 won't connect to Internet

Post by solarpuppy »

configuration:
bionic puppy x32 latest on a athlon amd
3com 3c905 tornado ethernet pci adapter

issue:
ran the 3 puppy internet wizard options, frisbee, etc
with dhcp, gets ip, does not configure
gateway nor dns servers, therefore no access

goes without saying, other pcs/os configure fine

what gives ?

That is a really old network adapter (20 year old) . There may not be a driver for in BionicPup32. Fortunately you can load the WinXP drivers for it with the NDISWrapper in Dougals Network Wizard, if necessary.

Do this:
It is a lot of steps, but it gives good info on what is wrong when a step fails.

menu->Setup->Internet Connection Wizard->Wired or wireless LAN->Network Wizard

Tell use at what step it fails?
You do what?
You see what?

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

gets the dhcp ip ....

but not the ip's for dns & gateway servers ...

gets the dhcp ip ....

Does it get a valid IP address for your LAN or a dummy address like 169.254.x.y?

I guess not.

Too bad. There are several possible solutions to this problem.
