Canonical Extending Ubuntu 14.04/16.04 LTS Support To Ten Years

in case anyone is interested,

This brings Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" releases to a ten year lifespan. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS were already on a ten year support plan while Canonical has decided retroactively to extend 14.04 LTS and 16.04 LTS to ten years too, as such they will now be supported until April 2024 and April 2026, respectively.

I would have thought this was relevant to Puppy (and some Dog) 'Users' since relates to the validity of Puppy Ubuntu-based repos remaining valid longer term? So not really off-topic, but actually very important to some Puppy (and some Dog) users more generally don't you think?

With Tahrpup and Xenialpup.
Basically all this will do.
Makes the Ubuntu repositories, that Puppy Package Manager(PPM) can access, still be actively kept updated, maybe.
Access addresses PPM uses, will still be active.
Some (most) programs, probably will not be updated.
Tahrpup, Xenialpup, and older Ubuntu versions, will not have everything needed to run the newer versions.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

Yah; agreed.

It'll do nothing to address the dependency issues Tahrpup has had for quite a while on several newer, popular applications.....and which Xenialpup is now starting to encounter.
