Missing firmware - where to find it

It's annoying to read the statement "needs firmware" and have to spend an hour hunting for it.
gyrog, I believe, publishes them here, https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke ... rmware.git. There are probably other versions somewhere.
