PKG-Cli -- Puppy's Answer to Apt

I'm surprised that a thread and link to sc0ttman's pkg-cli package manager on the 'old forum' didn't already exist. rockedge, please feel free to move this to whatever Section you think appropriate. And don't hesitate to assign Authorship of this thread to sc0ttman if he wants it.
Pkg - CLI package manager's thread and discussion on the 'old forum' starts here, https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/viewtop ... f0#p985531. I can't do better than sc0ttman in describing it than sc0ttman, so read the OP. Except to note that when sc0ttman wrote "A bit like apt-get but worse." he should have added .
I know zip about apt-get and could use it. Installation provides not only a command-line utility, but your choice of two GUIs. It's already builtin to some newer Puppys and has been used by Devs and Fans to create some applications, whose creation would otherwise have fallen somewhere between more difficult to impossible.
AFAIK, pkg-cli is both Puppy-Version and architecture agnostic: can be used under any Puppy.
For an quick/unofficial way to install pkg-cli see, viewtopic.php?p=45587#p45587. But note the warning.

an agnostic is someone who does not know what to believe but thinks there might be something in it...Bob Hawk
an athiest is someone who believes there is nothing...Me too
How can something be version and architecture agnostic ? What do you mean ? version and architecture are irrelevent?

@ April,
Every version of Puppy has builtin some version of bash. As long as an application is written in bash --without anything else included-- it will run on any Puppy regardless of (a) whether that Puppy has 32-bit or 64-bit architecture and (b) to what major-distro-version that Puppy is binary-compatible. [But over the course of time there were some modifications to bash. AFAIK, not many. But once in a blue moon the bash-dialect used in an application is misunderstood by a Puppy. Those occurrences are so infrequent that its best to ignore that possibility unless and until it manifest itself].
The problem with atheism as you've defined it is that among the things which don't exist are you and I. I'm willing to concede that you may just be a figment of my imagination. I do, however, think that I exist. [Oblique reference to Rene Descartes intended].
This is not the right Forum to discuss the inherent inadequacies of either atheism or the doctrines of various organized religions, except perhaps to suggest that all begin with the assumption that God is just a Big One of Us. I much prefer Father Cavanaugh's realization as a starting point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2Jroh-5KlA. It's very Jewish.
Another good starting point is Lee Smolin's Three Roads to Quantum Gravity. The concept "God" is never mentioned. After all, Smolin is a distinguished member of Academia and would probably prefer to maintain his reputation as an unbiased Scientist, even if only working in the field of theoretical physics. But someone with a religious frame of mind, when reaching Part III, which outlines the holographic principal, may be inclined to ask questions such as "What is creating the projections?" and "Against what are they being projected?"

This renaming of situations using established words or concepts is not new and in fact is why English is considered one of the most dynamic languages on the planet . I don't like its use as you put it though.
I didn't post that to get into a god discussion . I became an atheist at a very early age ...when I started to think for myself . Believing in childish stories blindly, without foundation, fact or evidence ,did not seem sensible to me then and even less so now. They all reckon they are the one and only right religion ,I just can't understand how so many people could be so naive.

I wonder if @sc0ttman followed my PR on woof-ce regarding PPM. Some improved functions on PPM can be applied to PKG. PKG works best as package updater which was already implemented on QuickPup64.
Much better if PKG's critical unix file operation and string manipulation commands was busybox/toybox based as possible for more robust operation upon upgrade/downgrade packages

mistfire,
Unfortunately, sc0ttman hasn't made an appearance on the New Forum (unless, perhaps, under a different name). And PKG-Cli has not been updated for 3 1/2 years. Although I've only used it once, and would have to study it to make use of it effectively, it has been recognized as a sufficiently valuable tool to now be 'builtin' to newer Puppys and has been used by devs to provide applications which might not otherwise be available.
It is tool valuable a tool to loose or --with the inevitable evolution of Linux-- become obsolete. Your time and interest permitting, perhaps you might consider taking it 'under your wing'?

I am not a believer myself in any gods or messiahs or any other literature which claims divinity..it is all nonsense but the above late journalist shed a lot of light on the global absurdity.

@xenial Thanks for that . A much better mind than mine by far . A deep and purposeful thinker.
Chapter Nineteen: In Conclusion: The Need for a New Enlightenment
Hitchens argues that the human race no longer needs religion to the extent it has in the past. He says the time has come for science and reason to take a more prominent role in the life of individuals and larger cultures; that de-emphasizing religion will improve the quality of life of individuals, and assist the progress of civilization. It is in effect a rallying call to atheists to fight the theocratic encroachment on free society.
I totally agree and I think its happening worldwide now as education is becoming more available to all.
