New Lappy for a Puppy

I need advise: what are some of the more modern laptops that I can throw a Puppy on?
Background: I've always been the make-the-old-stuff-work guy, but funding is slightly better lately, so I thought I would upgrade. But I've been using some version of Puppy since around 2008.
Wanna be able to dual boot Puppy, or at least install a Puppy exe and dual boot that way. I don't edit movies or the like, but I am a Gimp graphics guy. Would love to also be able to write/draw on the screen. Not a gamer.
What would y'all advise (yes, I'm from Texas, hence the "y'all")?

So, you want to dual-boot? Windoze, I take it?
HPs are pretty Linux-friendly these days. Dells, too. LICK might be the easiest way for you to install Puppy alongside MyCrudSoft's bloatware; it's literally a click-to-install .exe file. Or so I understand. Never used it myself, but then I've been Windows-free for around 8 years now.....
Some of the gang will be able to fill you in better than I can. And THEN we can advise on software, etc, to achieve what you want to do.

I used the exe back in the day before it had a name. Pretty easy but a bit hacky, at the time. May be smoother now.
Run a few dual boots now, but always welcome input, so will post as I do it.
Ok, thx for the post and am still gathering suggestions.

That kind of says what the laptop needs to be able to do.
So look for one that can do that.
I seem to see very little problems with the hardware on HP computers.
They seem to use common well supported by Linux, hardware.
A very new computer.
support for the hardware is only in the newer or newest versions of Puppy.
Definitely needs to be a Puppy version using a 5 series Linux kernel.
Only initial Puppy Linux issue, is installing the drivers needed, for whatever printer, you may have.
But that is not the computers issue.
It is the brand of printer issue.
If Windows is staying on computer.
Lick installer is the best way to install a frugal install of Puppy alongside Windows.
That is what that installer is made for.
