With a Little effort PUPPY can control this CyberDOG

Puppy already has tools to do so. Or add python.

If you "teach" it to bark menacingly, "Spot" could be a great security dog for home and property, as well.

Another IoT thing to Enjoy.

Hmm... I even wondered if there are people on our forum who are ready to spend $1541 on this?

Actually its cheap: No pet licensing fees, no trips-costs to the vet, no triming needs/cost, no food cost, no biting the mailman or neighbors, no ... AND if it can bark as well as talk, play music, carry packages on a hike or from the car to the house, be a support dog companion, it just might be worth it over its lifetime. Hmmm??? You got me wondering.

Ha! it wont chew your slippers, or your furniture, it wont excessively bark when it see a squirrel in the yard, it wont pee or poop on the carpet, it wont throw-up from yesterday's table scraps, etc...

Oh well. Maybe technology has gone too far. Or, I haven't come far enough.

This is all great :) Only the question was not about that. Are you going to buy soon?

Those things are so real, they keep leaving small piles of batteries all over the place.

Here's something for you to ponder. It is our present day changes that is occurring. In some cases we have been a part of this movement either directly or indirectly. Its not just sex dolls. :)

And to answer your question: With the ability to write python programs, I will probably buy for my grandkids to tinker and for my goofing off when bored. Last Christmas I spent a ton for them in technology; and, they have been creatively enjoying. They see this stuff as normal for them. We old farts see this as excessive luxury. As a carpenter makes things with wood, they will do the same with tech.

I only posted this tech, here, because it can be manipulated from an OS like PUP-DOGs. And because this forum has a lot of technologically creative minded people who also love the ability to automate things.

In our past for many here, we used tech to manage static devices like thermostats, camera, doors, etc. In the last decade the cost of drones have come down such that its affordable for the many. And some have been tinkering with automating flight similar to what's happening in our cars. This unit and the other robots are offering us the opportunity to manage, control, and manipulate a more sophisticated device than ever before like this robotic dog. It will be interesting to see what their public forum discusses and does with units like these.

For here, its just a new DOG in Puppyland.

My cat even catches mice. Not yet modernized and does not play music, but something purrs :)
The point of living with a cat and a dog is to clean up after them and argue with neighbors whose pet has piled a good pile and scold for scratched furniture. There will be no such mental interaction with a robot.

No one is asking or saying to get rid of our living pets, here.

But your points are accurate for me and I'm sure others who also have pets.

Thanks for bringing that up. I love my pets as I'm sure you love yours.

In terms of technology changes, what are your thoughts about it? ... from a technological position. This is NOT a question of politics or such. Just on the technology.

P.S. I love the comment on the battery piles! I still on the floor in laughter. We need that kind of humor!
It has certainly brightened my day!

I think at the moment these are all toys. Expensive toys.

By the way, in Russia just the other day it was announced that a robot teacher would appear in the city of Tomsk at the State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics.
From September 1, the robot will teach service robotics and other disciplines to students :) So far, there is an opinion that this is another way to "steal money from the treasury" ;)

Yes, I think we will be seeing more uses of such experiments going forward. Like the robot in that link I provided, earlier, who has been doing the news in Japan for the last 3 years.

I seem to remember @ETP injecting something akin to that kind of automation into some of the things he has provided in Puppyland. Maybe we'll see more of that in Puppy services and maybe others of us, too, will become as creative. His utility service which alerts if your LAN is up or down is a great example. Not exactly robotics, but nonetheless creative use of technology which has benefit.

Thanks @Grey for sharing.

I'm sure we will be much more of this as we march/race into the future.
