Bionicpup64 unexpected shutdown behaviour

Bionicpup64 desktop running livecd mode. With pupsave on Hard drive.

In recent days when I shutdown the computer going through its paces and notifies on the screen the pupsave is saved. Then the input world is displayed. Then a blinking cursor below, which soon disappears. The keyboard is disabled. indications I presume that everything is shutting down, but then the motherboard continues operating?

Any ideas or things I should do to remedy this effect?

Has it ever shut down properly running from the LiveCD of any puppy version?
If so, which one?

Any program you installed or settings you changed, just before this shutdown issue started?

Just to eliminate one possibility.

Do a shutdown and just leave the computer as it is, even if it still seems powered on.

Come back after about 15 minutes.
Does it still seem powered on?

yep it remains on, I have tried several different version of puppylinux with the same result. Must be a bios issue I figure.

If you press and release the power button,
(do not hold the power button for 5 or 10 seconds)
does it power off?

If yes. it could be an acpi problem.
The kernel option noacpi or acpi=0 can cause such problems.

Before the operating system starts and after it shuts down,
for example, at the boot menu,
pressing ctl+alt+del should reboot
and briefly touching the power button should power off.

Dose rebooting work properly?
reboot usually works even if power off does not.
If you can reboot then touching the power button at the boot menu should power off the machine.

Is it hanging at Xwindows, not killing X?
This can happen if you start your window manager from a script.
If it is, pressing ctrl+alt+backspace should kill Xwindows, and allow it to finish shutting down.
It is easy to fix that problem, edit wmexit and change:
jwm icewm openbox
to:
jwm icewm openbox X Xorg

Does it power off properly if you boot to ram with no savefile (pfix=ram)?
