is the Samba Simple Management tool just an UI for smb.conf?

This relates to older versions of Puppy e.g. BionicPup32

The Simple Samba Management tool has slots for three shares, but can additional shares be added easily to smb.conf, e.g. by just copying and pasting one of the three existing entries and giving it a new name?

The tool seems like it might just be (i) writing the user inputs into a standard smb.conf, and (ii) providing a start and stop button. If so shouldn't it make clear that pressing "Apply" will overwrite smb.conf. Continuing to show the default username and password after the user has set them is confusing
