Can't install Vivaldi on BionicPup64 8 [Solved]

I tried installing using the QuickPet which strangely only just directs to the main site (that's useless), so I installed the .deb file and there is nowhere to properly open the app and I'm not sure its even installed properly. After trying various things out to no avail, I then tried the portable installer of Vivaldi from Mike Walsh's Puppy Stuff GDrive and when I extract it I get an error at the end stating "the wrapper had an error" but some files do unpack. Everything no matter the file type seems to open in Geany. The last thing that I haven't tried and don't want to waste time doing is installing the old version from the PPM which is 2.3 and then trying to go through the fruitless effort of updating that.
I've read this already.
What I need is exact step by step instructions for installing Vivaldi and the best is always a video because nothing I'm reading translates to making sense using puppy.
Snippet from the portable Vivaldi thread:
Navigate through & help yourselves. Download; unzip; put it anywhere you like. Click to open, click again to 'LAUNCH'. Simples!
Click what to open? Not that it matters right now because it doesn't extract all the files anyways...

@EfficientPup
I used this guide to install Vivaldi on Linux Mint, using the "APT (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint…)" instructions. It might work for BionicPup64 8 too.

@EfficientPup :-
One question - if I may? What are you using to unpack the tarball with? AFAIK, nobody else has ever reported problems unpacking the tarball.....and I don't think I can make those instructions much simpler, mate.
You should know when you've reached the portable-browser directory, because it shows a Vivaldi icon instead of the usual folder icon.....
Mike.

Have you tried adding "run-as-spot"?
i.e. run-as-spot vivaldi-stable

Didn't work at all (command not found error as expected).

Just the included XArchive 0.2.8-6 . I click on the Vivaldi icon for launching and it just opens a blank file in Geany.

Never heard of run-as-spot, is that a cmd?
EDIT: Just for kicks I thought I'd try using the PPM to put Vivaldi 2.3 on just to see what happens and now that is giving me a lack of space error showing I only have 5 MB of space left I actually have 18.4 GB left on this VM entry.

With Mike Walsh's portable, try using UExtract. You may have to extract twice. Extracting the downloaded package unpacks as a tarball which you extract again to reveal the directory which displays as the Vivaldi icon (which you can move to anywhere). Then you just click on that icon to reveal the contents which will include the LAUNCH script.

1. https://downloads.vivaldi.com/stable/vi ... _amd64.deb
2. Open this as text
/usr/share/applications/vivaldi-stable.desktop
3. Change
Exec=vivaldi-stable
to
Exec=run-as-spot vivaldi-stable
4. Save and retry running Vivaldi from the menu

I will guess that Bionicpup is a frugal install and you are using a save file.
That low free space warning is about not having enough free space in the save file.
menu->Utility->Resize personal storage and make the save file bigger.
The save file is where anything installed is placed. (normal data storage location)
When you made the save file it is made a specific size.
It will have stuff in it and still have free space not yet used.
That free space is limited to how big you made the save file and how much space is already used.

Have you run Quickpet->Info->Bionicpup update?
If no.
You need to do so to get some bug fixes and updates.
Make sure to save and reboot, to now be using the updates.

It turned out it was a good thing I tried that and reported that lack of space because that was the root of all the problems I've been having since I just re-did the extraction of the tarball (and subsequent expansion) and then the proper launcher and files all appeared . There wasn't a prompt stating my save file was out of space until the PPM, the other stuff just half-heartedly attempted my actions but never led on the real problem.
With half-baked extractions and installs of Viv all over the VM, I need to clean them up and also get a sense for how much space is available (outside of using PPM).

That is kind of a bug in Puppy.
It may warn about free space, but the install process will still try to install.
If you put the mouse pointer over the personal storage icon, right side of tray.
A pop up info will tell you how much free space, is in it.
Always check, before installing something, to see if needed free space is there.
You can store things outside of the save.
Videos, documents, downloaded stuff, pictures, etc....
/mnt/home/ is outside of the save, but where Puppy is at.
Anything installed into Puppy, does need to go in the save.

I actually removed all those tray apps and icons from startup because they were blinking in an annoying way without cause. Now its just the clip-it and bandwidth monitor which I'd also like to remove. Even the volume icon was flashing so I had to ditch that too which isn't good.

That blinking is not normal.
Something is wrong with your install.
Probably something with the graphics driver and graphics settings.
It is better to start a new topic about this issue.
Provide this info:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=218
Graphics hardware info is important to know.
Monitors default resolution and is that being used.
