I've made a 64bit 5.4.54 kernel - superseded within 2 days with issues, so withdrawn.

EDIT 1/8 - have made 5.4.55 64bit kernel. Not happy with its performance.

Hi.

Is it a real time kernel?

@taersh - Not a real time kernel.

All recent Puppy versions have the program change_kernels.
If there is no menu entry to run.
In a terminal or console

Code: Select all

change_kernels
This program will automatically take care of replacing the old kernel files and renaming the replacement files.
All that is needed is placing the required files, from the new kernel, into the input slots.

@bigpup - I found several similar versions of change_kernels, all with the same version number.
As most modern pups have the program, I could just make a wrapper to make a menu item, but
some pups already have that. 01micko is still working on program & has some issues to resolve,
including lib vs lib64 issue. Situation not straightforward, hence I post my manual change method.
I made a .pet of Peebee's ScPup64-20.06 version, which should work for any modern pup, but
reluctant to upload right now. Will PM for you if you want.

The latest change_kernels from woof is required since I drastically changed firmware picking in kernel-kit.

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/puppy ... ge_kernels

(right click - save as "change_kernels", make executable and place in /usr/sbin)

It should be backward compatible so will suit most woof-ce pups (except raspup).

lib/lib64 issue should be addressed in the latest.
