The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

This is not what I expected :o

I think this is one of those examples of where installing via PPM in Puppy is not the ideal way. I took a look at ScPup32 (which I had easily to hand) and PPM offers audacious version 3.7.2 but it ends up missing a few things eg neon which is needed for network streaming and stuff. Also we don't want jack or pulse in standard Puppy. That might give sound output problems.

Latest version is 4.1 and best to compile from source or use a version specifically compiled from source for the Puppy in use, because libs can be added as desired or unwanted features can be disabled in the build. I like audacious, it is my current favourite audio player. I mostly run DPups, but will upload some ScPup / Slacko builds when I get some time and will post in the "PET's n stuff" section and/or the sections for the specific official Pups at the top of the forum.

Yep exactly as you described Oscar. Much better to make a version from source without pulse etc which causes the issue.

Not willing to repeat the exercise as I had to reset up SCPup. Just a heads up warning not to install from ppm for Slackware Pups. Ubuntu Pups not affected.

Darry, you didn't answer bigpup's questions. Did the sound just stop working after you installed Audacious, or what?

Yes it did.

Installed Audacious 3.72 and audacious plugins.
Deps..
fftw, json-c, libasyncns, libproxy,
mpg123, neon, pulseaudio, sbc, speexdsp, and wavpack.

Initially audacious works complaining the mozjs185.so.1.0 is missing then reboot and no sound.

As a side note Oscar has done a Stretch 4.1 .pet for Audacious that works with Slacko and SCpup.

I have done some test builds in ScPup and also 01Micko's Slacko 7.0 in both 32bit and 64bit
I have added the links to my post in the Multimedia section, but will put them here as well since we were discussing it here.
ScPup32:-
http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/audaciou ... -scpup.pet
Slacko 7.0 (32bit) here:-
http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/audaciou ... lacko7.pet
ScPup64:-
http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/audaciou ... -scpup.pet
Slacko64 7.0 here:-
http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/audaciou ... lacko7.pet

Some libs are different so they are not interchangable. I am using a wrapper and renamed the binary with added libs private and prioritised in an effort to avoid any conflicts. A few of the optional "Chiptunes" libraries have NOT been added. I do notice some chatter in terminal when the ffmpeg plugin is in use, not sure why, but everything seems to play perfectly well.

Hey @OscarTalks do you mind if I make these packages 'official' as I intend to release a 7.0.1 bugfix release soon.
