Where did you get Firefox to install?
What specific Firefox?

Quickpet icon on desktop.
Did you try to install Firefox from Quickpet->Browsers?
That one is compiled for Fossapup64 9.5 and should work OK.

If you got Firefox from some other way.
Run Puppy Package Manager(PPM)->Uninstall.
Uninstall the Firefox you installed.
Then install using Quickpet.

Hello,
I installed it by means of Quickpet and everything went well. Messages in the terminal without any error. But Firefox item is not in the menu and it is not even possible to run it from the terminal. So it is installed, but is looks like no installed.
Strange is terminal command behaviour. I put "firefox" command, then enter and terminal prompt is back immediately without any message and looks like everything is OK, like the program was launched. But the firefox is not launched.
If i look into package manager, the firefox-77.0.1-x86_64 is installed. Is it in the filesystem.

Installed from Quickpet with no problem on my install of Fossapup64 9.5

Made menu entry in menu->Internet

Try menu->Fixmenus
See if that now makes it show in the menu->Internet

firefox in a terminal, should run it, if it is properly installed.

How is Fossapup64 9.5 installed?
Frugal or full?
Hopefully you did a frugal install or it is a live install on a CD or USB.
Did you do a shutdown making a save?
Then booted using the save?

Then tried to install Firefox?
.
.
If Firefox is properly installed there should be a firefox directory in /opt
It should have this inside it.

Hello,
maybe the issue is that my puppy is not installed, there is configuration save on HDD only. I boot from the CD.
In spite the fact not installed puppy the files are in the filesystem but zero length of some files is a bit suspicious to me.

I installed also MC and it works. At least it is possible to start it in the terminal. Not possible to start from the menu in spite the MC menu item has been created.

Tried to install Seamonkey - the same result as Firefox.

LibreOffice and Vivaldi installed as SFS work nicely.

As long as the save is getting loaded when it boots.
Stuff in it should be getting used.

Something is definitely wrong with those files in /opt/firefox
All of them should be of some size.

What format is the HDD partition the save is on?

Does this computer have Windows 10 on it?
If yes.
Is Windows 10 fully shutdown normally.
Do not have it shutdown in hibernate.
That messes up the drive for being able to properly be used by Puppy.

Hi,
there is Win7 with NTFS and it is my corporate NTB and I did not want to make frugal install because of changes in the bootloader.
Win7 are always shut down in normal manner.

Do they ever run Windows defrag program, to check the ntfs partition for fragmentation?
A fragmented filesystem (format) on the partition, can make problems for the Puppy save, to work correctly.

ntfs
It allocates more “buffer” free space around files on the drive, although, as any Windows user can tell you, NTFS file systems still become fragmented over time. Because of the way these file systems work, they need to be defragmented to stay at peak performance.

Those Firefox files are not correctly stored in the Puppy save.
You are using a save file.
Did you size it 1GB or bigger when you made the save?
You may not have enough free space, in the save, for the Firefox install.
It may or may not tell you, there is not enough free space, to install in.
Hover the mouse pointer, over the personal storage icon, in the right side of the desktop tray.
It will say how much free space is in the save.

Hello,
I increased the size of the save file (originally was 512MB) to 4GB and firefox installation now works :)
Thank You very much for help!
