Today's Windows 10 Emergency

Post by JASpup »

I needed to get into a Zoom meeting. Chrome 63 in Puppy opened the event, but I couldn't get audio and didn't have the time to troubleshoot.

About 10 minutes late I was in Windows 10 with the Zoom client installed, and audio.

After the meeting Zoom was uninstalled. I expect it to work in a browser, and hopefully in Puppy.

@JASpup - Which puppy were you using? If it's fossapup64, the link below has options, including two .pets I made (5.4.6 & 5.1.4 later in the thread). Worth testing.

I LOVE the title of this post!!!!

Should be the name of a TV series/movie....something like "Breaking Bad" but with computers and networks.

I used @mikewalsh 's ZOOM portable end of last week on Bionic64...worked well. My wife had a meeting she got sent into the hallway, because of audio options not correctly set?! That was on an Apple iPad though.... and in the seconds we had to figure it out, she's already a truant in the hallway.

You would think if a company is going to require people to use Zoom.
They would set in stone a specific version to use and only that version.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

Always test new setups in advance of need. https://zoom.us/test :thumbup2:

I'm in Xenial 'til there's a compatiblity reason to upgrade because Ms. Battleshooter on sourceforge made a quality XFCE puplet for it. My fast machine can run the newest, but otherwise it would still be the resource issue.

I'm in Thar32 JWM now and often. What I boot depends on what I'm doing. Maybe others are like that too?

If Zoom works on Puppy Fossa only, that would be a reason to boot it.

@JASpup - I just tested & the Zoom 5.1.4 .pet version I posted - works for me in Xenialpup64 (k4.9.58) as well as Bionicpup64 & Fossapup64. May be worth trying. In ScPup64 has missing libraries & apulse setup incompatibility. Would be surprised if works in Tahr64.

Zoom in Puppy

Post by JASpup »

Thanks I'll check it out next Zoom session.

Slackware is for coders and the only reason I boot it is DEs.

I don't expect anything new to work in Tahr.
