It would be better to use a Puppy program that does not need Python.
I assume you are using Bionicpup32 8.0
If it has PeasyPDF program.
It can convert pdf to text.
Here is the pet package for PeasyPDF

Last two posts of this topic, have some updated info, on slight change, in some Puppy versions.
I think it's better to use a program that can do the job efficiently, regardless of whether it uses Python or not.
There are other programs that can convert PDF to text without Python, and they're just as good, if not better. For example, I use the pdftotext command-line tool that is a very powerful tool that can convert PDFs to text in a variety of formats. It can convert large PDFs quickly.
Another option I use is a web-based PDF converter. I simply upload the PDF to the converter, and it converts it to text in a few seconds.
Another command-line option I use is mutool draw
. mutool is part of the muPDF package.

Mutool draw worked for me, so I voted in its favor. Additionally, when I have to convert PDF to Excel quickly at no cost or something like this, I go to Setapp because here are the best instructions and tips about how to convert PDF to Excel on Mac and keep using a variety of Mac apps. So it will help you too.
