Also with frugal install you can load and unload SFS while in full instalation SFS are installed and I think is difficult to uninstall.

Related Webpages:
That reference to the Frugal Installer is a good program for doing frugal installs.
But it will not work for UEFI computers unless secure boot is disabled, legacy boot is enabled, or CSM is enabled in the UEFI setup of the computer.
It uses Grub4dos boot loader and it can not boot normal setup UEFI.

There is a newer updated frugal installer program.

Leslie,

if a new to puppy user enters the puppylinux.com site, there is no mention of a path or link to installation instructions. Only a tool bar icon to the wiki. I know you are not responsible for the home page, but the wiki could be easier to find.

ok, so once on the wiki main page, http://wikka.puppylinux.com/HomePage,
there is a single link, "installation" http://wikka.puppylinux.com/InstallationIndex
on this page there are a dozen or so links to pages detailing various kinds of installs.

At this point, the typical uninformed user, in my opinion, will most likely choose a full install rather than reading about types of installs he/she does not understand. (granted a more methodical person might drill down through the different types of installs to better understand which is best for their needs)

perhaps before "Tutorials", there should be a link to a new page dedicated to a simple description of the different type installs to be had. something like...

Installation Index
This page points to information all about how to install Puppy.
Choosing your install type

a new page, "overview of install types" or "which kind of install do I need"

Tutorials
Steps to Installation
Creating a live CD/DVD
How To Burn Linux ISO Images
What is a Frugal Install?
Frugal installation to harddrive or USB - standard way to install Puppy
Full installation to harddrive - depreciated install to a Linux partition

the addendums to the last two lines above is most likely not enough information for the uninformed or a linux user with preconceptions about the "usual' way linux is installed

I have tried to compose this post with bbcode to make it easier to follow, but the editor does not seem to let me.

this has my interest, can you explain more in detail what is not working with the BBCode?

@rockedge

I have tried to compose this post with bbcode to make it easier to follow, but the editor does not seem to let me.

The forum bbcode editor is working for me. On the wikki the editor only works after I log in.

#bigpup

There is a newer updated frugal installer program. Frugalpup Installer

Does the reference to FrugalPup on Fish web-site obviate the need to refer to the thread about the frugal-installer in the Murga-forum?
If 'yes' I will replace the link to the Murga Forum with the link you provided.

Also, you mentioned that secure boot must be disabled (when the loader is UEFI).
I must think about the most appropriate page for this info.

No,
the secure boot needs disabled if you use Grub4dos Boot Loader to boot a UEFI computer.
That is the boot loader used by Frugal Installer.

Frugalpup Installer can install a true UEFI boot loader and it can boot if secure boot is enabled.
It can also install Grub4dos boot loader, but it is only for booting on legacy bios computers.
The full UEFI boot loader is for UEFI computers.
It can install legacy boot loader (Grub4dos), UEFI boot loader, or you can choose to install both boot loaders.
Both boot loaders installed will make a drive boot-able on both UEFI and legacy bios.
