Linux got its started in 1992 in EXACTLY the same way this has started.
Like Linux, it took some time before the world got on-board to this Operating System.
This CPU discussed at CES, also Open Source, is getting real attention...simliar to how Linux started.
It is starting to gain traction: It has the potential to grow to dominance, overtaking some of the smaller processor lines (aka ARM, etc). I would expect to see, "maybe", Linux running on it soon after a 2 features are stabilized.
