VNC is a remote desktop control program best used for controlling computers on your local network.
If you want to control remote computers on the internet, programs like Anydesk are a better choice.
When using VNC you have a "server" (the computer being controlled) and its desktop appears in a window on the "client" (the controlling computer). Note: VNC does no support audio from the server.
Here's a fossapup64 computer controlling a dpup stretch computer.

Some things it can do:
-control and administer a file server
-control media servers, put your photos, music, and videos on the server and display them on a monitor or televison (or stream internet content). Your VNC client is the "remote control"
-run the browser on the server (the remote computer) to access internet banking. This adds an extra layer of security for the client computer (the one controlling).
-Tutorial or teaching aid
Why use VNC?
-VNC has no internet dependencies and has almost no lag.
-Is cross platform, Linux, Android, MS Windows, Mac
Unfortunately, many of the packages from the PPM are not plug and play.

In use:
The firewall must be OFF on the server computer.
1. Start the server on the computer you want to control
-click Menu>Network>X11VNC Server
-A small window will open, choose once or everytime.
-Another window will ask you to create a password.
You will need the server computers name and IP address
-click Menu>Setup>QuickSetup
-Write down the Hostname
-You can get the servers IP address by hovering the mouse pointer over the network icon in the right side of the taskbar.
2. Start the client on the other computer
-click Menu>Network>Tight VNC client
A small window will open
-enter either the server Hostname or the IP address.
Another window will open
-enter the server password you set
The server can normally be accessed by either the Hostname or the IP address. Using the Hostname is preferable since it will not change. The IP address can change unless you assign it a static address.
Remember, the puppy VNC server can be controlled by a linux computer, a windows computer,
or even a android phone/tablet that is running a VNC viewer (client) program.
Helpful Hints:
-if you are using the Puppy TightVNC client and the server window has scroll bars, use left mouse button to scroll down, right mouse button to scroll up
