I notice that, while "synclient" is included, there doesn't seem to be a GUI frontend for it.

psynclient was missing and has been added to 230508

Thanks for the release-230508.

Also, uefi-usb-installer complains that grub2_efi is missing. So I installed it through the PPM.

This is due to my previous save file.
uefi-usb-installer is not included in the new release.

I am afraid that "bootflash" needs the grub2_efi package to create a bootable usb stick ready for a UEFI system.
The bootflash script seems to refer to the directory /usr/share/grub2-efi, which is not present in the iso.

I do not have the ability to read complicated scripts, so I may be mistaken.

I have noticed something strange about bionicpup32ng.

One of my machines uses r600_dri.so. On bionicpup32ng it requires libllvm9. Such a thing didn't happen on bionicpup32(+30).
I compared the r600_dri.so from "ng" with that from "+30." The former was created in 2020, while the latter was created in 2022.
Why is the older file included in the newer iso?

The performance of my machine running bionicpup32ng has gotten worse than before.

I looked at the mesa-related packages in the PPM. The version in bionicpup32ng is lower than that in bionicpup32+30.

The iso located at ibiblio seems to be the release 230508. I suggest that the iso should be replaced with +30.
Otherwise, I am afraid, "bionicpup32," which is an official release will be disgraced.

Hmmmmmm I can see WHATs happening but have no idea WHY - difference between local and Github build for some reason.

Will need to generate a full build log to see if there are any clues.....

@thinkpadfreak

There was a typo in Woof-CE that meant no Ubuntu builds included updates:

Try the new 230519 version:

Hello.
I have installed the release 231111, and the following is what I notice.

After I set up the network, the network icon in the tray disappeared.

The icon in the tray which shows the battery status does not appear. To my surprise, hardinfo reports that there is no battery. Of course the battery is not dead. Other puppies running on the same machine do show the battery status.

Can you try the kernel from a previous version? 4.19 and 5.4 are no longer supported on Github Woof-CE so had to change to 5.10.....

I tried the 5.4.239 kernel from focalpup32. This solved both the problems.

The current download link of bionicpup32 leads us to sourceforge.
Of cource it is optional whether we update our bionicpup32 or not, but I am afraid the current situation will perplex ordinary users.

Edit:
I use 5.15.x kernels for some of the 64bit puppies, but those puppies don't cause such problems. I think it is strange.

I thank you for having developed bionicpup32.
However, the iso published recently is very different from the first official release.

I am afraid that what is happening may be a mismatch between the kernel and the packages constituting bionicpup32.
Isn't it time to stop updating bionicpup32?

I suggest that the download link in puppylinux.com should point to the +30 iso.
Otherwise, the iso should include a matching kernel at least.

I want to try BionicPup32 on my IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T60 but when I tried to verify the iso file i downloaded from the ibiblio link, it failed. in the message it was complaining about Not finding the bionicpup32-8.0+30-uefi.iso; in fact, the content of the md5 text file shows the iso, bionicpup32-8.0+30-uefi.iso
Why is bionicpup32-8.0+30-uefi.iso file mentioned in the checksum file for bionicpup32-8.0-uefi.iso?
What should we do? Thanks

I confirmed that the iso located at ibiblio is that of +30. Thanks, peebee.
I understand that it is the +30 iso, even though its file name does not include the string "+30."

I am afraid that hardinfo and powerapplet_tray have to be modified to comply with the 5.10.x kernel. But I don't think they should.
It would be easier to use an older kernel such as 4.19 or 5.4.

That is the link I used. You can check it yourself. The content of the md5 text has this line: "e6a1f201f7f3c506a694330167fd69c3 bionicpup32-8.0+30-uefi.iso"

@michel804

I tried downloading bionicpup32-8.0-uefi.iso. I also have bionicpup32-8.0+30-uefi.iso downloaded from another place.
These two ISOs return the same md5sum. So bionicpup32-8.0-uefi.iso at ibiblio is bionicpup32-8.0+30-uefi.iso.
