Testing a new type of phpBB style

As I have mentioned here on the forum, I have on the side and in between been able to run another complete conversion of the original murga-linux.com forum from phpBB 2.0.21 to the most current phpBB 3.3.14 using the original MySQL database data dump.

This time armed with much more knowledge through experience the conversion process went far smoother and resulted in a phpBB 3.3.14 version on a localhost machine. Used a variety of versions of XAMPP's to use the age appropriate Apache, MySQL and PHP versions to do each step of the conversion.

There is no plan to use this version on the production server since the database currently used has been trimmed of all of the spam topics and posts and fake users which takes a long time even using the pruning tools and attention to details.

But it gave me the opportunity to try out a theme style called ScaffoldBB which is a total break from the default style prosilver and uses the Bootstrap framework. This makes changing the theme different in procedure and there are many Bootstrap framework theme styles out in the world. So to test out what it is all about I applied the ScaffoldBB style to the murga-linux forum conversion setup.

This is a quick look at it, Bootstrap framework as the phpBB default style using the Slate theme:

Unfortunately when I try to use ScaffoldBB on this forum or the one-to-one copy of it, there is a complete breakdown and generates a plain white empty page.

This is only for testing purposes and curiosity as to what it would look like and how it would function.

For what it's worth, I can barely read white characters on a black background and I can't read blue ones at all.

@Flash It is just one of many Bootstrap style themes. I have ten light and dark to try out. Remember this is just an experiment using an entirely different style type for phpBB. Could even modify one to be custom tweaked. Not meant for our forums.

..for me ..I cannot see much difference in style - and the current forum style & theme are much easier to read for me. Frankly unless there is some significant difference (ie functionality or navigability) I wouldn't change.

I wouldn't change.

We're not going to change to ScaffoldBB. It is an experiment and doesn't work at all when applied to this forum. It is me experimenting with what will become phpBB 4+ and I wanted to share some of the adventure, That's all, no changes will be occurring.

It is us keeping the future in mind.
