Brother MFC-J430W not printing

Hi,

I've downloaded the drivers for the Brother MFC-J430W device, transformed all .deb in .txz packages and installed them.

The printer seems to be well installed in CUPS, as a usb:// connected device.
In the page options, sheet size is set to A4.
The correct .ppd file is selected.

CUPS shows:

Code: Select all

Queue Name	Description	Location	Make and Model	Status
MFCJ430W	MFCJ430W Brother MFC-J430W CUPS	Idle

When trying to print a test page, for example, the printer panel lights on, says that it's receiving data, but no sheet is printed.

I don't know about your printer, but I've seen that happening to an HP laser printer before. In the end I fixed it by configuring printer defaults to the actual paper size and color mode (monochrome in my case). Did you check job status from Control Panel > System > CUPS manage printers? Maybe also google "Linux Brother MFC-J430W not printing" to see if owners of that same model already solved similar issues.

Are there any binary (executable) files in the resulting package? Can they run (extract and run the command in a terminal)?

Try disabling the eztables firewall, it is located at

Menu -->Setup -->Fatdog64 Control Menu -->8 System -->Manage Servers and Services

Bad suggestion by me, I see your printer is USB, firewall does not affect that.
