Hello Puppers,
Is there a ZOOM pet (as in Zoom Workplace proprietary videotelephony software program developed by Zoom Communications) for Fossapup(64) or any other Pup?
Thank you in advance,

I have used Zoom on F96-CE_4 with success, but I don't remember how exactly I installed it.
look on https://psearch.puppylinux.com try a search with the keywords like "Zoom"
@Sky Aisling - There aren't many pets being made now, as the web version is pretty good. To try it, in a browser (preferably firefox or chrome), run: https://app.zoom.us/wc/
Thank you, ozsouth, (I've forgotten how to 'mention' someone's name)
bigpup in an older post suggests https://appimage.github.io/Zoom/
I'll try and see if it's still good.

@Sky Aisling :-
Hallo, Sky.
Well, I used to maintain a portable build of this. Up until 18 months or so ago, it was already big enough.....somewhere around the 320-340 MB mark. Then Zoom decided to add the Electron framework to what was already a bloated app.....which boosted it up to well over half a gigabyte in size.
At that point, I gave up on it. It was simply getting to the point where it was ridiculous.....for what is basically a video-calling app.
I still use it. But I do so via the browser webapp version, accessible from Zoom's own website (as mentioned above by ozsouth).
This used to be a very poor second compared to the official desktop client. Video was laggy, audio was frankly dreadful - very 'echo-ey' and 'tinny' - and the overall functionality was quite poor. But, sometime during the last 6 months or so, they've done something to the webapp.....I know not what, but I do know it's every bit as good as the desktop client now.
I run it - ON the desktop, like a 'client' - as a Chrome webapp running in its own dedicated window, and called via its own dedicated Menu entry. I will warn you, however; this will only work in the Chromium-based 'clones'. If, like many here, you run the default Firefox and just stick with that, it won't work for you. Well, parts of it will.....but you'll have issues with the audio component.
Mike.
Hey! Mike, How's it going over there in the UK?
Thanks for the update on your experience with ZOOM.
I discovered I can get it on my iPhone. A single picture of the person talking at a time, but, that's ok with me. You saved me hours of fussing with this.
I think I'll mark this thread [SOLVED].

Got it! using Firefox 118.0.2 on an old Lenovo ideapad and an old Asus A53Z laptop.
The color is quite faded, but, that could be how I've got my JWM color scheme set up.
I'm not sure about the sound as I have no meeting to join. I have a "pending" meeting in January 2025. I use ZOOM infrequently for private meetings, not business meetings.
I will tinker some more. This is a good thing if it works. Gets me away from the clutches of Apple (now I'm into the clutches of ZOOM).
Question: It appears that the ZOOM app is resident in root/downloads. Is being in 'root' a secure place to house the app?
Thanks again,
Sky
