So you want to cut only a part of an image and save the cut part. Select the part you want to save with "Make Selection" in the toolbar > press delete on keyboard > Save As.

I used mtPaint for the first time some weeks ago, though it would be easy compared to gimp, but I took a long time to be able to copy, paste, repaint in some color, etc.
Thanks for the tip.

mtpaint does have documentation that can help. There are some not so obvious ways to do some operations but once seen and done a few times mtpaint becomes a great image editor for most work.

I find working with layers can be tricky at first.

Yes I struggled with the mtpaint docs once upon a time, but found most too tricky for my taste. However, I always install the program because it is my quick go to for quick image cropping or scaling. Outside of these two operations I now know nothing.

I can now draw lines with an arrow!

Not intuitive at all, I ran across how to do it with the steps written down. Easy once seen, otherwise I couldn't figure out how to do it so I would revert to PhotoFiltre running on WINE to do it.

Viewnior can do cropping and may be more intuitive than mtpaint. Look under Properties > Image.

This is a visual image of what to do and what it says in the Mtpaint manual.

Cropping

To crop an image you create a rectangle selection for the area of the image you wish to keep and press the Delete key.
