@don570
I have watched a couple of the videos on your YouTube channel:

https://www.youtube.com/@donwhite2144

I have put a "toe in the water" and also uploaded a video, see my blog post:

https://bkhome.org/news/202411/pupmtp-f ... video.html

Now thinking of buying a new phone as a Christmas present to myself, to be able to make better quality videos.
Do you recommend any particular phone?

Don't want an iphone, it has to be android, mostly for reason of cost, but also I am invested in the android ecosystem.

Optical zoom?
Optical or electronic image stabilization?
Good low-light performance.

An idle thought: what about the Huawei Harmony OS phones, are they for sale outside China?
I ask about that, as my current and previous phones are Huawei and very impressed with the quality.
Both are still working fine, and both are still on the original battery.
Well, the old one spends most of its life in a drawer, but I did use to use it to listen to audios. Thinking back, I recall retired it because had wrong frequencies for Telstra here in au.

@BarryK , of course, it is a personal oppinion, because I use SAMSUNG for TV, Phone... to control them with smart-things.

So, my recomendation... Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... tra-review

Video Quality
: The S23 Ultra has one of the best cameras available in an Android phone, with incredible video recording capabilities, 8K video, and excellent autofocus.
Optical Zoom: It comes with a 10x optical zoom and a 3x telephoto, making it a strong contender for zoom video quality.
Stabilization: Samsung's Super Steady mode provides good electronic stabilization, and the camera has a hybrid optical/electronic stabilization system that works well for video.
Low Light: Excellent low-light video performance with its large sensors and advanced processing.

Cons:-- The Ultra is "expensive" (+/- 700£) , but it’s an all-in-one powerhouse for photography and video.

Consider it as a suggestion, ;)

n.b.- Please, admins, excuseme if my post is out of context but it's an answer to a question, I hope admins could understand, sorry.

No problem. I moderate the EasyOS section of the forum, and other moderators won't butt in (unless spam is being posted of course).

Not so sure about those sharp corners on the S24 Ultra.

I am tending to cheaper phones, either the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE 5G, or Google Pixel 8a

https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/off ... s24fe256bk

https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/off ... gpx8a256ob

The prices are AU dollars. Both have OIS on the main camera. The Google Pixel 8a is cheaper and the main camera is 64MP compared with 50MP for the Samsung.
Mostly what I'm looking for is taking smooth stabilized videos, and with good low-light performance.

Looked up the S24 Ultra at Officeworks:

https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/off ... lTop=false

...AU$2,187 ...yikes!!!
Twice the price of the S24 FE.

Google pixel 8a was other of my options for your needs, but as I told u, Samsung is what I use because I can connect it with other hardware I have at home.

So good, for me that's a good choice for those seeking performance, long-term software support, and excellent photographic capabilities in a compact device, because its compact size (6.1-inch display) and advanced Tensor G3 chipset make it a really powerful option for photography enthusiasts who prefer a mid-range budget with a good prize. Its AI tools could B particularly useful for enhancing images and streamlining the editing process, similar to what you might find in higher-end Pixel models and with this Google pixel a8 you could obtain good photos to use as wallpapers for easyos, 😉.

Have a nice day, cheers.

Shotcut and TTSMaker

How to make video

1) I recorded the screen using terminal command ffmpeg
https://oldforum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?t=75139
but I couldn't use a microphone
2) I used Shotcut to remove useless parts and added subtitles to screen
3) I made a text script
4) TTSMaker converted text to audio. A free online service.
Some voices allow 3000 character limit.
https://ttsmaker.com/

5) I added audio track using Shotcut again. Images can be added as well by dragging them in.

Important rule when using Shotcut --> Select the video (or audio) first then you can use the effects window.

Finally decided on a Motorola G75, cost AU$497 (US$324), see blog post:
