I had an error (phisycal error) in one of my hard disks.
I lost al my scarthgap and daedalus easyos system, but , thanks god... I thought, I have a full copy of them.
Now is when the problem comes.- How must I restore the system from this backups.
I have an Easy Remaster Folder, with an easy. sfs file with all the backup.
I try to include this easy.sfs file with an initrd and vmlinux and start the system but It didn't finish the installation.
I can start to work with easyos from O, but having a full backup, I prefer to use it.
What must I do to restore system?
Help me please.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.

if you can find the hidden directory .sessions in your backup, the rest you can redownload.

Excuseme, can you explain it with a little more detail, please??
I reinstalled the system from an original .img, then I restore one release copy but now I must install step by step all my software.... and I spent ....buffff... hours and hours trying to do this in one step.
How can I restore the copy=??
If there is a link to @BarryK explanation, I didn't find it... can u tell me where is it??
Thanky

there should be no need to reinstall your software that you installed with the package manager.
sfs's and appimages and such can be redownloaded, but it is the personalized configuration files that sometomes take more time to redo, and they should be in .sessions.
if you go to https://bkhome.org/news/ there is a searchbar that is specific to barrys documentation. try .sessions or restore as search terms. It may be an older post, but I do recall an explanation of the feature and usage of .sessions, as it is basic to the Easy series.

Thanks.- solved but it is really hard.....
It could be question of use, but I prefer puppy full restart because I only need to copy-save-restore the 4fs file.
What a pity.
Thanks for your help (I must continue adjunting my OS)
Have a nice day.

it's the same with Easy except you copy-save-restore the .sessions dir instead of a 4fs.
Barry explores a lot of alternative methods to accomodate those that wish to use various alternative repos for a wide range of apps, and does a good job documenting his work. Some versions of Easy or added features are expermintal, so probaly not best for everyone.

This explanation is not complete, it is not well explained, it is... but you can ask me as much questions as you want related to this.
Now, I must travel to France, so till Tuesday I will not connect with my pc (only smartphone and tablets) so I'll try to comment then.
Have a nice day.-

I tried restoring in every way imaginable to avoid what ended up being my last resort: formatting and reinstalling.
I f you were to......
explain your difficulties with more verbose techical detail
link to documentation that outlines the steps you took
describe what outcome you expected
describe the results of your efforts
then the drastic time consuming measures of reformatting and reinstalling could most likely be avoided
when you take the time and effort to research your problem and organize your presentation to the forum. others will be more inclined to take their time to help.
