Vim in Xenial Pup

Hi!
I'm new to Puppy Linux, and need some help to get started. First of all, I need a text editor.
I've been trying to get vim downloaded/installed via ppm. I've installled vim-puppet_3.8.5, but can't seem to get it running. The other packages I've tried to download I'm told are not available.
Is there any specific package which would be the 'correct' one, or is just me who don't get how vim-puppet works?
Thank you, please help!

Xenia Pup should have vi built in, courtesy of busybox. Have you tried that?

What specific version of Xenialpup?
Xenialpup 7.5 the 32bit version?
Or
Xenialpup64 7.5 the 64 bit version?

AFAIK VS Code no longer supports Ubuntu 18.04, so a Puppy based on Ubuntu 16.04 must be too old.

Instead of vim-puppet, try using Leafpad or Geany; they're lightweight and easy to use. If you want Vim, check if the full vim package is available.

^^^ +1!!
Oh, I couldn't agree more. Leafpad or Geany are SO much simpler to use.
Yes, I know vim has been around since the Ark, but only a masochist could truly say they like using it.....
The inbuilt tools are far easier and sweeter to use than vim. Things HAVE "moved on a bit", y'know?

Compile from source `vim_7.4.1689.orig.tar.gz`
or get V7.3 from PPM setup.
Remember fix vi path in /usr/bin/
Sometimes work in console, VIM is the BEST than GUI Editor.
